Album Cover View web searches. Interesting. If you're looking for design ideas, it's nice to have the screencaps to look at first to decide whether or not you even want to bother looking at the site.
As an aside...
Wow, Deebs! Nice overhaul on your site! Muchas s! _________________ Greg Littlefield

I've recently updated the look of my website and they still have the old version. Wonder how long it will take for the new version to show up. _________________ Elaine

This would illustrate one of the flaws in a search system like this. It would run too slow if a fresh snapshot had to be generated for each page with every search so, based on Elaine's experience, I would guess cached copies are created each time your site is crawled.
Technorati crawled my blog during the one day last year when I had to have a temporary theme running because of an update that broke my old theme. It took over 6 months before the snapshot of the temporary theme was replaced on their server by a current view. _________________ Be well,

As far as I can tell, the copy they have of my website is about 1-2 months old because it shows the banner I put at the top of the page for the Boston workshop registration.
Then again, their results aren't as comprehensive as most others, so they still have a lot of crawling to do. _________________ Greg Littlefield

| I just put 2 + 2 and figured out that this Searchme site has been crawling my site for quite a while now. If you ever check out the stats of your site and see an ip that shows up in a whois search as Kavam, this is their search engine. I had read about Kavam before and the guy that started it up recently and it turns out that Searchme is his bot. I've been getting visits from Kavam for a while now and after I read this thread I did a whois for Searchme and discovered it was Kavam. I sometimes think about blocking some of these bots but never know if they are good bots or bad bots. I usually just let em go. |
