And how about THIS gem.... I've been with V123 for 2 years, as of last week was rated in the 95%ile among Premium subscribers. THEN - this abomination mentioned above came and I (and Bob) got a "2" rating. Then.... I also got a "2" from this listing below (the client also gave a very low average rating of 2.2 star among 52 submissions); these 2 low ratings dropped me a whole 10% in one week!
In this video, the visuals, the music and the VO have almost equal importance and need to work well together in order to smoothly get our message across. I need to hear if your’s is the right voice to do that. I have attached a copy of the latest music version so you can get a feel for the tempo.
There are some statistical points to hit; while still conveying that you are a real person who is inviting others to come to Abq for a good time.
This read should be real, conversational. Relax - speed is NOT an issue. I am betting that that the authority will naturally come across in your voice. You are an authority on Here.
Calm, smile, MYSTERY, humbleness, but still keeping up enthusiasm regarding the different points are all adjectives that my creatives used while we listened to everyone in my previous audition file.
The previous auditions were TOO announcer.
When the dialogue is in paragraph form speak using your experience to decide natural breaks, while keeping a fairly smooth and steady pace.
When the copy is short and has a period at the end.
Read that as 1 complete statement or thought. Remember that each statement will be over a different visual, so try to find the story in each statement.
Maybe give us 2-3 complete reads on your audition and that will be great! Make 1 very high energy and the other 2 as your feel comfortable.
PLEASE, make sure you do not record your voice over the music. I want us to be able to hear your audition clearly.
******
I guess not many people do "calm enthusiasm" very well. Perhaps too many cooks in the kitchen? _________________ Best regards,

Any takers whether they'd recognize whether or not it was a tube mic or preamp used in the chain?
Though, to their credit, I'm sure a lot of the bottomfeeders turned it down since they don't have the gear requested.
Aww... who am I kidding, you know they did it any way.
BTW: anyone catch that you're not getting paid for about six months on this one? Payment doesn't get to you until they sell a certain # of units.
As for the Acme read. First off, they're over 100 years old, not 35 (the company which bought the chain is about that age though). And get used to the over-direction. I dropped them as a client a while back because of this, and their inability to pay within a reasonable period of time (never got payment before 90 days, and I know that they have a 30 day policy on this stuff... used to work for them about 20 years back, still have friends who do). _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

I wouldn't say it if it weren't true.
BTW: I think I have some old pics from the 100 year celebration at the Acme I worked at before I went to the corporate office. If I have them, I'll post (besides it's been a while since I saw a picture of myself with hair ) _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

Ugh! If these people are going to be so demanding and then turn around and give bad ratings to the talent left and right, the least they can do is learn the difference between "yours" and "your's."
Plus I feel like the ability to rate talents is just kind of icky in general. |
