Don't you dare turn it down! The only downside, as Diane said, is that you'll never look at coach the same way again.
We fly American quite often and use miles to upgrade whenever possible.
Champagne before the flight, hot towel, menu service with a wine selection and a warm cookie to finish it off. Nothing like it.
Have fun!
edit: And you'll be comfortable enough to have a nice sleep. Coming back from Hawaii we were laying down completely flat. That was weird. _________________ http://www.jameslorenz.com/notjustvoiceover |

What do you have against tubas? My husband is a tuba player?
(But he doesn't travel with it... I mean, there ARE limits...)

Back on topic: first class is great -- free everything, including Bailey's Irish cream after every meal (if you want it).
I am a very frequent flier on United and use my miles to upgrade. That way I get a seat with some room so I can work, or just as often, take a nap. Also, the first-class seats have electrical outlets, if you have the right kind of connector to use with computers, etc. _________________ Charter Member: Threadjackers Local 420 |

Ember... I actually didn't read the entire thread b/c I just had to skip down to say you are so cute!!!!
Not that I'm an expert or anything, but I have flown 1st class a few times. I don't know what airlines Banksey flies, but honestly, all kinds fly first class (I've seen children in first class... plain old kids. Even babies. It irritates me b/c who the heck wants to sit near a kid on any flight... but they're allowed in first class). Don't worry about what to wear or say or do. You don't have to dress up. I wear jeans on just about every flight. Actually, come to think of it, I wore my grey velour sweatsuit (ala old NY man in Ocean's 12, I believe ) on my last 1st class flight from Vegas.
Now, what to expect? Service (unlike you get in coach). More room... which is the greatest on a long flight. Enjoy it!!! _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

Keep in mind, too, that first class isn't always first class.
FC on trans-continental is usually different than FC on intra-continental, which, depending on the plane, might be more equivalent to Business Class or even an "Economy Plus" kind of thing.
Check seatguru.com to see how your plane is likely to be configured.
FC always seems a bit freaky to me. I like BC better*, especially on British Airways (they call it Club).
Ooooooooh.....
* Note that this has been a rare occurance, but I still like it _________________ Lou Zucaro

September, the only thing you have to worry about in First Class is getting tired of saying "Yes Please" when the flight attendant offers you a drink, etc.
Enjoy!

The tray table unfolds from your arm rest. Just watch everybody else get theirs out...
The only thing I wish those fc seats had on domestic trips were pop-up leg rests. _________________ Charter Member: Threadjackers Local 420 |

lol..I am really going to miss out on the drinks! The surgery I had for the awful acid reflux that went all kerflooey resulted in me using a pouch of intestine for my stomach, a basic gastric bypass. Which was cool because I got to drop some weight on top of no more acid reflux EVER!...the down side? I get slap drunk off of one shot.
...on the other hand, I'm a cheap date _________________ www.septembervoice.com
