I actually have a short Ian Anderson story and I'll bet this wasn't the only time it happened to him. Ian and Jethro Tull were slated to do a concert here and he came to our local talk station to do an interview. The substitute show host was a local TV anchor, all looks, all voice, no knowledge in many areas. He does this really lame interview with Anderson and finishes saying, "Say Hi to Jethro for us. I'm sorry he couldn't make it down here." You then hear a couple of seconds of Anderson winding up to respond and they clearly hit the delay button at least twice with garbled words in between and then they popped right into a commercial. Doofus.

I've heard Ian Anderson rarely suffers fools. Hopefully, Mr. Talkinghead got an earful.

This is kind of on topic...we have a Cockatiel - it was a hand me down pet and was free. It didn't have a name when we got it, so we named him Lenny- as in Lynyrd Skynyrd
Cause he was a Free Bird. _________________ Moe Egan

The reason I was looking into this is I auditioned for a regional production of Pride and Prejudice and if cast, I'd like to sound the part. I guess RP would be the required accent for stage British, innit. _________________ Joe Rodriguez, Bilingual Voice Actor | The Voiceover Thespian Blog |

Some years ago we drove from London to Inverness and back again for a vacation. Everywhere I stopped I would just listen to people talk. It's absolutely true that even a distance of a few miles/km can take you from one "accent" to another very quickly. It was like a smorgasboard for the ears.
Same thing here in the Boston area. When I first moved here, everybody sounded alike to me. It wasn't long before I started hearing slight and some no-subtle differences between speech patterns here... even between such geographically close places as the North End and Southie. And, oh, go on out to Worcester or up to New Hampshire, or up to south Maine! Another smorgasboard for the ears. _________________ Charter Member: Threadjackers Local 420 |

Ya know if you prowl that site you can also learn how to field strip an AK-47, crochet a beanie cap, wash your hair and impersonate Christopher Walken.
So after viewing the Auditioning for Broadway lesson and failing to get the part you can wash your hair, put on your newly crocheted beanie and go to the next audition as a British speaking Christopher Walken. But if you take the AK-47 you might end up with a part in the prison version of "Springtime For Hitler".
