I'd read that or heard that somewhere too. However, I wonder, with the advent of auditioning over the internet, where you can have many, many auditioning for the same thing, if that would still hold true.

Perhaps it would apply to 'personal' auditions only where you are directly asked to audition for something, or where you go to a studio, other than your own, to do an audition. Does that make sense?

Probably applies to auditions to which the performer is specifically called and not for $50 jobs.

Out of interest, if 3 jobs come my way, the jobs are mine, no question about it, just need exec approval. I know that one will end in a pay day and the other two will fall by the wayside.

I think the standard holds true. But, if you are trying a new service, keep close track of how many auditions you provide and how the service chooses the talent who get to audition. The service may be sending out to many unqualified talent for that particular job and you get lost in the masses. If that is taking place, it's time to look for a new way of marketing yourself.

A good agent wants to please the client and provide only talent that would fit the desired talent description, therefore, increasing your chances of winning the audition.

I am a full-time professional auditioner and a part time booker. One of these days, I hope to be a full-time professional booker and a part-time auditioner or maybe win the VO lottery and maybe retire from auditioning all together.

Yeah. I know.

But I can dream, can't I?

BTW, I dig Jeff Bridges quote, but you have to have money in the bank in order to successfully pull that attitude off.
