I like the cam close-ups of the little hand gestures, as if he REALLY UNDERSTOOD what he was explaining. What scares me is that there are people out there who really DO understand what he's saying!

This is what makes the whole thing really work... the "tecnobabble".
NOW go to work and image yourself with your tang tungled in our eye teeth so you can't see what you are saying...

Glad you all like the technobabbler as much as I do.
This one rates right up there with the now famous Don LaFontaine "5 Men and a Limo."
Now, I just don't understand why any of you would think there were outtakes from that shoot. C'mon! I'm sure the guy did it in one take. What I'd love to see is a battle of blather between the guy in the video and John Moschitta from the Fast Talker FedEx spots of the early '80s.
Have a most superb day. |

What makes me think that's probably more difficult to undergo than to say? _________________ Elaine

What's so d*%#n funny?
Scripts like that make up 80% of my work. Seriously... just another average day in tecnobabbleland (Houston). But I will admit, I'd never survive it if I had to do it on camera. _________________ . If at first you don't succeed, then bomb disposal probably isn't for you. |

Whatever he was paid, the client got a bargain! Nicely edited, too. If it's made up of multiple takes, they did a nice job with it. And even if he did multiple takes, if what we saw is one continuous take (even if it's take 427), he did a helluva job.
It almost seems like it could be a Saturday Night Live sketch, but I doubt if anyone in the cast could pull it off as well.

That was very well done. Now that the script is posted....does anyone want to give it a try? Have some fun with it if you do.
Maybe not the new crew of SNL,,( I honestly don't even know who the new crew is)...,but I would love to see Dan Akroyd try that, or Chevy Chase too. |

Oh, Lordy.
All kidding aside, I used to work for Rockwell Automation! I was a sales engineer with them for 6 years. I saw this back in February and got a good hoot out of it. No, I never got to do a presentation on the retro encabulator, but you should have seen me dazzle them with presentations on PLCs, drives, motor control centers, terminal blocks, and the whole gamut of industrial automation. Ah, the good old days.
I finally figured out I'd rather talk about it than actually sell it. But I do know how to make it sound good!
If you ever need tips on factory automation, just holla!

Finally got around to viewing this....I mean, I may be somewhat technically bent, but such a rich trove of terminology definitely had me spurving bearings a twitter, not to mention me amberfacient lunar wane shaft...
If any deranged soul wants to give this a try, ran across a similar script that could be used for some very intensive vocal warmups---->HERE |

Sadly, Peter Drew only contributed to that post in 2006 and hasn't been heard from since. Maybe we should invite him to jump back in....the rhetoric is fine!
