In a recent interview, he said his career bounced back rather quickly, and he feels he's been hired by some who did so because (or in spite) of what he'd done.

Yeah, but I'm not going to try it just in case. Last election I had a dear high school buddy who was posting the most god-awful, false crap about a candidate I liked. I started to politely challenge his posts and got jumped on by all his like-minded friends. I think I've deleted most of my posts cause that's one trail I don't want to leave behind.

Whether politics or almost any other topic, it really is interesting how different people – depending on which side of the coin they're on – feel about the right of others to express their opinion.

Just an observation.

Call me pragmatic but I agree with those of you who feel that it's just kind of unnecessary to alienate 50% of your potential clients, friends, etc.
by getting into political debates on Facebook, etc. Same goes for
bumper stickers.

In the first place, what are the odds of me convincing you that I'm right and you're wrong? Pretty much nil, unless you are extremely indecisive or easily swayed. If you're like most people you'll just dig your heels in that much more.

And when someone on social media starts going off about some hot button political topic it feels to me sort of like an assault. I didn't ask for a diatribe but am getting one anyway. Yes you are going to have to pry my opinion out of me because guess what, I'm considerate enough to not just impose it upon you without you asking for it.

Whew ...Okay I feel better now. cool

Yeah, I don't like it when people go off on touchy issues and are all knee-jerk about it. If they have an interesting, thoughtful take on it that's forgivable. However, the typical reposting of the most hyperbolic blogs and 'journals' that are really Click Farms and then saying something like "this is an OUTRAGE!!!" doesn't do it for me.

I am of a certain political bias. Two of the most often cited online sources of that bias regularly post horribly misleading headlines and take things wildly out of context. I refuse to repost their 'content'. Sure, they might be on my 'side' but they're liars and cheats...so they're not on anyone's side! I'm interested in sharing information so that everyone - of every persuasion - has some food for thought for discussion. I'm not interested in slinging about distortions.
