This has been a great thread. I purchased a 416 today.

Thanks for all of the comments. It helped me build a list of stuff that I need to consider. I'm still new at this and improving workflow, reliability, back ups, etc, are all stuff that I really need to get figured out before I get burned.

Definitely looking into some of the preamps mentioned. I'd love to have a nice preamp but I also know that it's down the list a bit.

And just because I made a decision doesnt mean I'm not still interested in more opinions. I learned a lot.
