Rarely do I see a script more than an hour or two in advance. I do prefer to see it a little in advance... cold reading is NOT my forte' - my first read is generally not the one to go with either. It's kinda a walk thru.

I've had a great start to the week. Booked a session for Wed. or Thurs. for an orientation video for UConn, and I have a 7 pm session tonight for the Hannah Montana Fashion Collection (national cable spot). And it's not even 5 pm.

I wish all weeks were like this.

Hmmmm-
Well, I am offsite every day this week recording an audiobook (but only 2-hour sessions) - then-

Waiting to hear whether I'll be recording this week or next for a Nathan's Hot Dog spot and-

This week or next - character voicings for corporate gaming.

Kinda booked, kinda untethered -

Like my mind lately-

I hate them, but in a sick way I love them too...

I'm learning to take some major risks and commit to them, regardless of how off the wall they seem.

I think the frightening thing isn't that I'm comfortable with doing this, but that it's working.

In my world, it's not logical... and must be feared.

So, what actually happened?

Before my 1050 ISDN session which turned out to be for a chain of Golf Shops I had a call from a TV production company asking if I would voice a documentary about wind farms. Ok but need to do it after 1130. Call from a radio production company - two radio commercials, interested? Yes but do it now before my 1050 session. DONE.

After my attack of the wind took Jazz out. Returned to find an email wanting a corporate DVD doing ASAP - PS Donna has a script for you too, she'll send in an hour.

Lunch - Oh yes! Chicken madras and Pilau rice. Served on to plate - Phone rang. It was Steve asking if I could voice 3 radio commercial for him and how soon? AFTER I'VE EATEN! After the radio ad' we then went back to the wind to do some pick-ups.

Mug of tea then a long walk on the beach with Jazz.

Today I go to NYC to record the Logitech Air Mouse spot that Peter referred me to, again. They changed the script and want the whole thing re-done. The gig so nice they paid me twice! Don't you love those?

Geez, I hate these threads....they always pop up when I have nothing...

Last week...three good-paying jobs in a row.... this week... naga.

Almost all my copy comes in ahead of time. Very few cold reads... and I prefer the cold reads. I've only had to go into someone else's studio once. Everything's at home...

....except of course the 3 half-hour newscasts I do daily. Also the 5 public appearances I'll do this week...no pay for that....just gratis from the bosses.

sesh today was swell. i was in one room with a web cam, dancing when i nailed the timing (because, of course, there is :35 of copy for a warm, personal, caring health care spot). for a moment i felt as though i was, ya know, on tv or something when they show those famed VO talents during a typical day. only for a fleeting moment, really.

three car spots booked tomorrow. more phone systems mysteries to solve.

and today's HAIRCUT. whoa.

Everybody's so busy...WOW! I want my turn.

I might get a chance to use my Japanese language skills in a possible v-o job soon. That would be cool!

Love this business!

Cheers all...

My booking yesterday just had the same thing happen.

For the price they pay, they can re-write it as much as they want. I love it when the engineers keep changing the architecture for a product, lol.

/except when I'm working on it as part of my day job... then I just get irritated.

'Pinto,

I love that 35 secs of copy for a warm caring health care spot! I once practiced with a real spot that was about heart attack victims, same deal -- almost a minute's worth of copy for a 30-sec spot talking about the stress in one's life and heart attacks... NO stress for the VO talent, right??

My space telescope thing went well... now I have one for a satellite that studies the Sun... called SOHO. I keep thinking of NYC...

Today I have a recording session with Educational Testing Service in Princeton. They're my #1 client. This month is my 11th anniversary with them!

BTW the Logitech gig may lead to more work. Thanks again, Peter!!!

[EDIT] I mixed up gigs! Peter referred me to the Nicotene Palicrilex CD recording. Oops!
