There's always Phoenix/Scottsdale in August. I bleeb you can get $600/night rooms in 4 and 5 star resorts for only $150 or so. And we've got something like 16 bowling centers around town.

Well let's look at some numbers, shall we?
I recall the dates for V'08 (BTW I call copyright!....say it out loud and you'll get it) being like Friday 8/22-Sunday 8/24 and it was LA at a Hyatt at LAX.
So I headed over to Kayak.com for rates cause they include the low cost carriers in their searches as well (unlike orbitz et al) for a Friday AM flight and a noon Sunday departure. These rates are from Buffalo and if you're not from Buffalo, your mileage may vary.
So let's pick some cities for the best one stop flights (none of this two stop crap) that could be potential sites for this/these extravaganza/extravaganzi -
BUFFALO to:
LA $330
Orlando $240
Las Vegas $340
Charlotte $263
Chicago $155
Denver $340
Salt Lake City $414
So on average, the flight's gonna be $297.43
Hotels, well I didn't run any numbers on them (hey, I gotta life here folks, I'm not your freakin CPA!!! ) Low side would be $100/night, high would be $250 so we'll average $175 over two nights for $350. I'm not a motel 6 kinda guy
Registration fee estimated at $500 and between food and booze say $50/day which may be high but some <---folks eat more than others.
SO we're at about $1,250 or what some voice talents would call a good year.
I'm not bragging but I could afford it. Some of you could, some of you couldn't (and that is not a slam...you could easily have pressing financial obligations or be one of those freaks that actually saves and invests their money).
My point is that from a personal perspective I'd love to see many of the friends I have already met and meet more fine folks...I am the king of networking, works for me. But from a business perspective...where's the beef?
Sorry vegans but in my professional development, I had damn well better learn many things I did NOT know when I walked in the conference room.
So my word for any organizers is - content. Learn me something, lotsa somethings and get that info out there now because I have kids (well, plural in February) and they like me here on weekends so I had better have a good reason for not being here. A handshake from DLF does not impress me (as swell a fellow as I'm sure he is).
I look forward to the syllabus.
This concludes this evening's sermon on the voice over mound.

I had a bit of a revelation as well, Peter. I'm trying to fund VOICE 2008 through VO earnings only and it's been tough going. But since I'm probably not going to the conference now, I was just thinking that the money would be well spent taking some lessons from Nancy Wolfson instead. Seems like more solid training is a better expenditure of the money. _________________ Jeff

Jeff,
I'm starting to sway in the same direction. The lack of information from the key players speaks volumes. _________________ Try to imagine a world where there is no such thing as hypothetical situations.

Depends on whether they're standard mags or the drums. If it's a class III, I'm totally in.
EDIT: Someone mentioned that VOICE 2008 was near the end of August. I thought that one of the organizers stated here earlier that it was to be held over the second weekend in August (starting on Wed/Thurs)... has the date changed? _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser
