Hope the hotel has free wi-fi. Does anyone know?
It would also be interesting to have some solid research presented to the attendees regarding the state of the industry. Not just opinions, but real statistics on types of equipment, years in business, average income range, types of jobs in which demographics, genders, how many agents, etc. etc..... This could be an annual state of the voice over industry report.
It's not too early to create a survey and compile numbers. _________________ Bobbin Beam

(Wireless only 10th floor and below.) I've used both the wired and wireless connections there. Sadly, it is an additional charge to use the Internet service |

| Oh, and a suggestion from me that plays off Bobbin's...make sure some presenters at least do vo the way many/most of us do...a lot of last year's crew--while wonderful speakers and an honor to meet--are so big in the industry or had been in the biz so long, that they still travelled to auditions and went to studios for most of their work. I'd like to hear from someone like us, with home studios and "non traditional" agents...who is successful in THAT niche. Thanks!!! |

All right, now I'm really confused. I could've sworn my Art of Voiceacting newsletter said 5/18 - 5/21. But it really ends 5/22 instead? So...it's meet & greet on Sun 5/18? Wonder if Thurs. is a half day like last year?
Have I got it right now? _________________ Mary |

There are ways to minimize the cost of access. I have a spare wireless router. I'm sure all the adjacent rooms will get excellent coverage if they know the password to get in. _________________ Try to imagine a world where there is no such thing as hypothetical situations.

What about having GK Acoustic or Whisper Room sponsor 5 or more booths for use at the conference complete with ISDN line..ready for connection if people need them in an emergency situation?
There could be a fee and reservation of the a booth required. Maybe Ednet or some other company could hook in the lines and get some publicity/business from it as well? Just thinking out loud. _________________ Ben

Ladies...you are too kind. Just looking out for us working folks. I think El Dorado Sound (board member) lives in California? Wink, wink....nudge, nudge?

or just see me and I'll give it to you...
along with Bob's credit card #s and his browsing history (seriously Bob, we need to talk about your Cheese Wiz fettish )
//use of the 802.11N standard negates this statement
Seriously though, for the uninitiated, be very careful of using the WiFi at hotels, and even the wired networks. If you don't have a good firewall and AV solution, I don't recommend hooking into them.
a quick trip to your local ISSA or Infragard chapter will explain better than I can in 500 words or less...
In other news, turns out the wedding I had to go to was postponed by a week, so I'm in too.

Working on a University campus makes me very good at keeping out the curious. If there is one thing students love to do is hack the network! A bit of encryption along with the firewall keeps the rookies at bay.
I have a credit card number generator here. We can use that, OK? _________________ Try to imagine a world where there is no such thing as hypothetical situations.

I have a suggestion: how about an update from James or Penny? There's nothing at the voice-international site and nothing on any of their (many) web sites. Have we scared you away?
I'm making this suggestion since we're the core group here, with 6 pages of input thus far, and hoping this might be a cooperative venture. Thx. _________________ sitting at #8, though not as present as I'd like to be. Hello!
