I am looking to dump the Firewire device and purchase a sound card for my PC. Anyone purchase the M-Audio Delta 44 lately and if so what are your thoughts on it? Or if you think another sound card is better let me know too. I don't need any more than 4 inputs/outputs and want to keep it at $500 or less. Hoping not to get any conflicts with Windows XP. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I had one of those a few years back and it was a nice piece of gear.... I ran my mixer into it because the breakout box of the 44 only has 1/4" line inputs..
that one is a bit long in the tooth now....not necessarily a bad thing |

I have a Delta 44 and have had good luck with it. It lacked ins and outs for what I was doing, however, and I eventually replaced it with a Firewire device with the capacity I needed.
The sound quality is excellent, and if you don't need more than 4 ins and outs, it's quite the pro piece of kit.
Incidentally - I am RMAing my Presonus Firebox for the 3rd time and while it's out I will be putting my 44 back in service. It might just stay there for good! |

yes I am going to replace my Presonus Firebox with a sound card. I'll keep it though and use it as a backup, or on another machine or for travel. It's ok but not great in my opinion. |
