COURVO wrote: | WordPress is unreasonably hard for beginners, and there are unsubstantiated claims that it will increase your ranking on Google searches. | That's what Dave said in response to a query I made here about Wordpress in March. And in spite of Dave's genuinely heartfelt expression of concern, Wordpress proved a good fit for my 10-year hobby writing news articles about voice actors, and it's effectively multiplied my readership like mutant breeding bunnies.
I've been wanting to pick back up on a personal blog I used to do years ago on my old Geocities homepage.
And in following other VO-BB bloggers like Kara and Dave D., on blogspot.com, I've noticed some features I like that aren't available on Wordpress. And just from observation, I think blogspot might be more suitable for a personal blog.
But I'd like to hear some feedback from blogger.com users -- pros and cons. Your comments are greatly appreciated. _________________ Publisher: Voice Actors in the News

I had a blogspot blog as far back as 2003. Then someone told be I had to be on Wordpress so I could get Googled more, so away I went. My blog was hacked twice, my host changed my password on me countless times without my knowledge and I've had countless spam comments. Then last month I was checking my backlinks and found that one of the hackers put a backdoor in my blog and was posting Viagra and pharma links everywhere.
So much for Wordpress.
I took it back to Blogger, changed my host, redesigned my site, and so far so good.
They say you have to keep the latest ver of WP installed, and I never could get it to look as good as I wanted without learning PHP.
I like Blogger. Like it a lot.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, Ron.
I haven't had any problems like you described in my work with Wordpress, but I also haven't attempted to integrate it with a website either. But the spam has never been an issue at all -- Wordpress uses Askimet and it's been a very effective filter. I can mass-delete spam comments lickety-split. No comments are posted without my approving them beforehand.
[comment removed later -- I figured it out]
One thing I don't like about Blogspot already is that it doesn't offer traffic tracking like Wordpress does. With blogspot I guess I'd have to imbed code into my posts to monitor web traffic, which is annoying. _________________ Publisher: Voice Actors in the News
