VO-BB - 20 YEARS OLD!

On Sunday afternoon, my wife and I went out to the local watering hole to watch one of the NFL playoff games. The only seats available were the two corner stools at the bar. Being in such close quarters, conversations always strike up between strangers. The funny, blue collar guy to my right and the slightly buzzed "I know everything especially politics" guy to our left kept us entertained between plays.

During the fourth quarter the funny guy left, as the Jets had sealed their fate and Mr. Politics decides to take on health care. No one bit; so, he then baits the hook and asks "You know what else they're trying to do?" Then proceeds to state almost word for word a national PSA I recorded to protect free antenna TV broadcasting.

I think I went flush. I have never had that happen before and was creeped out by how close to the script he was. Not wanting to stoke his fire; I didn't say anything. My wife and I cashed out and as we were walking out the door, I simply said "OK, that was weird." Being as involved in my career as I am, she responded "Yea, I thought the Jets would do better than that."

I hear and read the opinions of certain talk show hosts restated as fact by others quite often these days. It doesn't surprise me at all. The lack of original thought and analysis by so many saddens me actually, but hey, it's a free country, yes?
