I don't venture often into the Gear forum, as I am technically one step above the Rainman (I'm an excellent talker).

As happens every year around this time, I get a mad itch for new toys. Before I plunk down one or two sacks of cash for a new PC- I wanted to ask them of you who know- does Windows 7 play nice with Adobe Audition? I've been using my Mac for the last two years for work and just plan miss Audition, so I want to find a wiz bang new computer that will do right by Audition.

Any suggestions?

thanks!

Moe,

You are so far above me... but, from all those I have spoken with AA plays well with Win 7.

Call soon,

I have been using Windows 7 with AA 1.5 for 8 months and it does fine if you are only recording, but if you are adding audio in realtime to the recording, you will need two soundcards.
I record news so I play soundclips while recording and Windows 7 doesn't like to share audio resources. I have a Sound Blaster as my default card and have my Echo Mia assigned to AA input and output.

If this will be a dedicated PC just for VO work, then you will be fine. I would make sure you go with the 64 bit version and load up on the ram!
Good Luck!

I can show you how to use your ProTools rig with your Mac.

I'll put the tea kettle on.

UPDATE-
I have updated with the system suggested updates and now I only need one soundcard to record and playback...MS must have gotten some complaints.

Just to confirm I installed Audition 3.0 on my laptop I have running Windows 7 3 days ago and have had no issues at all. I haven't done any really heavy lifting (editing) yet but basic recording and editing in the edit view and multi track view work fine. I had it run a batch of about 1100 files copying from wav to mp3 and half expected it to crash overnight but it came through with flying colors.

I really like 7 so far. The new laptop came with Vista and I put up with it for a couple months. HATED IT. I was about ready to go back to XP when I saw I could get a pretty nifty student price on Windows 7. So for $30 I took the chance and upgraded the laptop. The studio boxes will stay XP for now though just in case.
