Hi there - I am going to add Source Connect today - to take advantage of the old rate. I picked up an iLok and it is giving me an error message - that it is assigned to some other account.
I have emailed tech support, but they won't be getting back to me until tomorrow at the earliest. Any thoughts? _________________ Playing for a living...

Interesting, was the iLok sealed in a package?
Never saw that happen before unless it had been used previously... _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

Yep - had to cut it open. But after your post, I dug through the trash to check on that and it certainly appears to have been in a sealed package. I guess I am now at the mercy of their tech support to come to the rescue! _________________ Playing for a living...

I had the go 'round with iLok yesterday as I jumped into the SC pool as well.
I had some trouble getting iLok's client software to install properly. I did get it figured out finally. Submitted a trouble ticket....still haven't heard back from their tech-support guys. _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

What was your error message?
iLok has gotten back to me and said that they emailed the current owner asking to transfer ownership. But if they can't come up with something in a day or two, I'm taking it back to Guitar Center and getting a new one. Although the one I got appeared to be in a sealed package, so who knows what happened. _________________ Playing for a living...

The error message occured when I was trying to download licences. It would simply say that "client software is not detected. Please down load and install iLok client software".
I think your return trip to GC would be the easiest route Connie. Good luck! _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

boy, I'm so glad there are threads like this. I'm going to will that nothing like this happens to mine. And because I haven't purchased it yet, I'm going to dance the happy dance for an excuse to go to GC tomorrow. Music stores, no matter how conglomerate, make me happy. _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

The iLok driver is probably the most annoying part of using the iLok.
I run into that problem from time to time, Chuck.
Mandy, if you have problems, of course I got your back! _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

Returned the "previously owned" iLok and picked up another. Works fine. Just have to configure my router now - but I was connected with Source Connect guys. If I can't figure this out myself, I may need some assistance.
I'll keep you posted! _________________ Playing for a living...

We had a mysterious iLok issue this week as well with one of my customers.
I wonder if they are having any problems over there...
Setting your Port Routing is the hairiest part, if you've never worked with your router before. Rarely do I have people bother, since when you are traveling you never get the luxury of "port mapping" anyhow.
But if you use it from home on a regular basis, It's worth doing as it connects faster and doesn't give you annoying errors each time you make a connection. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

Once I got the iLok thing sussed out SC turned out to be very easy to use.
Connie - If you want to test, I'll be in the studio from around 10 to 12 your time. _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

So George, the S-C instructions that indicate we should talk to the hotel's IT department to have them open ports, are fantasy--is that agreed? In my hotel experience, an extra towel can be an issue, forget about opening ports |
