www.lunatalent.com

They're a web design and hosting company who just set up a talent site since they cast so many projects. You can register there right now, but the site is still in pre-launch so the VO talent part isn't quite ready. Shad Vick seems like a nice guy so give it a look-see. Thanks!

Looks interesting, but the home page says "We represent talent in the Mountain West." Guess that rules out us Texans.

Thanks Tom.

Justin...I always figure that locale stuff only applies to on camera actors- we can work from anywhere.

True, Moe. I guess I was thinking about the talent agencies I've run across (including mine) that are fairly strict about where their represented talent (including VO talent) live in relation to the agency. The fact that Luna put their locale preference on the front page kinda gave me the impression that they were equally strict. I suppose the only way to know for sure is to ask.

I clicked on that link and the moment I saw "Utah Talent" I have to say be real careful.
I hope it's real. There have been so many talent agencies in Utah that are nothing but ripoffs.

Sorry to be negative here but I am leary.
If on the other hand this is legit and they are a "real" agency this could be really great.
I'm sure we will have the Magic Pinto and Frank talking about it before too long here.

Greg- thanks for the head's up...for those of us not from your neck of the woods, can you give us the Reader's Digest on what kind of scams previous "talent agents" in Utah dabbled in? I appreciate your insight.... Smile

Sure, happy to. Many of these so called talent agencies in Utah are modeling types. Even some that claim to rep talent are doing the thing where they make you go get headshots and take classes and you never hear from them again. In other words the only ones that ever make any money are the agents. They make big claims and bring in inexperienced people and take their money with the promise of being a star. I think it's the same in many towns. UT just seems to be the scam capital....for many things.

I did send this guy an email

Greg, you're welcome to stop by our offices anytime.
Thanks for the online submission.
We see the need not only to draw upon the agency for our marketing arm, but also for the relationships we've established over the years in marketing.
We're in pre-launch of our new agency and look forward to working with you.
We're developing the site to add more features.
Any suggestions are welcome as we continue to develop a talent pool to represent.
Thanks for registering - we'll be in touch,

This guy, these people, may very well be on the up and up. It may be a wonderful place and he may be the best agent in the world for all I know. It's just that there have been a number so called "agencies" in Utah that have come, taken money and are gone.

I think what I may do is ask the guy if he is interested in joining and have him tell us more about himself....what do you think?

Speaking strictly for myself Greg, the last thing I want the VO-BB to become is a place to vet agents. If he were to stumble on the dolphin pool on his own, that's one thing....just don't want to go asking sharks in here, ya know?

I have to agree with Moe on this one.
If someone wants to take one for the team and report back, fine. But if it's a scam and he's invited here.......

i rarely think twice about these groups and "agencies" that pop up here in zion, especially if they're on craigslist {{{shudder}}}. but i'd stop in and check them out and let you know, if grep will join me.

greg, you in? power in numbers, babe. where are they (located)? do you know?

OK let me reiterate...this agency is probably fine....all I am saying is be careful. I don't want to shut this business down...I am just saying be careful is all.

OK I will not invite him/them but instead I will pursue and report.

" have him tell us more about himself"

equals advertising and that's not gonna happen here.
