I have recently been working on my news broadcasting home studio and had 2 office divider panels that I grabbed for free. I discovered that the insides are the same as 1 inch Owens Corning 703 or 705. I am not sure which because I have never had either, but the 48 by 52 in panels are on each side of the divider so you get 2 panels per divder. I have one in front of me, one to the right side and one above me. I have a half panel to my left and used the other half for spot treatments. The rest is just blankets and mattress toppers but the treatment works pretty darn good for little to no money. I recommend looking on craig's list for some dividers that people may be giving away in your area if you need further treatment at a low cost. Now I need to work on the low budget bass traps....

Nice! Somewhere (maybe on here) somebody else made a "room" out of cubicle panels. Amy Snively maybe? Can't recall.

Anyway thanks for sharing. I want to put a gobo in my studio near a door and your post gives me an idea of putting one or two of those on casters and trying that out.

Just to clarify, I de-constructed the dividers to get to the insulation. I hung it on the wall with some nails in numerous places rather than build the nice frames because I am limited in funds and space. I nailed some cleats to the wall and hung one from the ceiling.
If you look at the picture closely, you can see one panel of insulation behind the monitors. I covered the insulation with a dark curtain because the room was too bright for my tastes.

1 inch is good, 2 inch is better, and 4 inch is the best.

You would probably get better performance from that 1 inch material, by keeping it 2 or 3 inches off the wall. With 16 inch air gap you will double the Absorption Coefficients of the low frequencies below 200Hz.

So keeping them as gobos is a good idea. Hope you can score some more of them.

Acoustics are counter-intuitive. If one thing is certain about acoustics, it is that if anything seems obvious it is probably wrong.
