Deirdre,
Fascinating. Thank you. I bet this applies to more than just game demos. _________________ Be well,

Guilty as charged on the producer side. When I've got to find the right voice and I've got 100+ demos to listen to, a lot of folks get just a few seconds to show what they can do. In five seconds I can usually gauge the vocal range, age range, professionalism, copy interpretation abilities, and suitability for the project at hand. Being a curious soul, I'll often listen for ten seconds to see what an inappropriate candidate had in mind, but that's it.
For straight demos, show me the quintessential you in the first several seconds. For character stuff you have to wow me with originality and commitment to the character you're playing to get me to listen to more. Best foot, or tongue, forward.
