Just curious. Do you keep ONLY your audio in your audio hard drive or do you also keep related documents there - scripts, agreements etc? |

All audio is dropped into individual "job" folders, along with any correspondence, scripts, notes, and all the rest of the elements (music, fx) that went into the job.
All those "job folders" are, in turn, placed in a master file for that client.
Everything is backed up to an internal hard drive, and at lest one, if not two external hard drives. |

I think I do it about the same way.
I have a dedicated internal drive for audio. I have a folder for music libraries (with sub folders for each package), one for sound effects etc. Then I have a folder called Clients with subfolders for each client. Within each client folder I have separate folders for each project where I save all session files: the voice track, copies of music and sound effect files, the multitrack session file etc. I also save all scripts, notes and contracts within each folder for later reference if needed.
Every file on that drive is automatically and immediately backed up to an external USB drive. Then once a quarter or so I archive old client folders to DVD and keep them in a fire safe. My original plan was to move them off the drives when I burn them to DVD but I have so much hard drive space I almost never do.
I don't have any off site backups and that worries me. Kevin talks about the emerging tech of storing files in the cloud in a similar thread in entre nous. I think that's a great idea and one I may look into later this year. _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog
