A friend of mine has a son who has signed up for some VO classes from Voices for All. I've never heard of them and was wondering if any of you fine people have run across them and what you think of their services. Thanks for any feed back you have. Feel free to PM me if you'd rather. I know classes can be pretty subjective.
Hope you are all well,
SamA

short question

How come all of the Alumni refuse to give their last name?

Maybe I'm just too picky.

Maybe they got so famous and successful that they're just known by one name now-- like Cher, Oprah, and Bono.

Two favorite things from that thread:

1) The irony of the VFA guy saying "We do not select, invite, or coerce anyone to take our classes" and then a few sentences later adds that statements made by other people are "false." Yet if you look through the testimonials on their site you keep seeing it mentioned that participants of their introductory class were "invited" to take the master class. That's the hook of programs like this -- the introductory class is merely a front for promoting the Master Class, where the real money is.

2) This:
Quote:
Let me just say that our Master Class is for new aspiring voice actors. Most people who are looking to do this for fun, and maybe make a few bucks too. It is a side gig, a hobby, something to do after after retirement. Something they have always wanted to try. Everyone always told them they had a great voice etc. This is not a quit your day job get rich quick scheme. These are people who are brand new to the industry and who know absolutely nothing at all about it.
These are not the kind of people who need to be taking a "Master Class" because they simply aren't ready for it. It's also pointless for a beginner/aspiring voice actor to be spending that much on a workshop...even if it does include two demos.

I'll happily admit if I'm wrong, but shouldn't a "Master Class" be for someone who is SERIOUS about voice acting, not a newbie? Or in this case is it just implied that it's taught by a "Master" and thus qualifies as a "Master Class"?

But the $2900 price tag alone is enough to scare me off. Heck, I'd be scared off if it were half that price. Your money would be better invested taking one or two workshops with the top recommended instructors like Fraley, Bergen, Holmes, Hogan, etc, and THEN see about producing a demo with that same money.

I've found a good guideline to measure classes/workshops of this nature is to ask oneself: what would Bob Bergen do?

My favorite thing from the thread: The heavy-handed mod who will BAN you if you go off topic. Lordy, if that was us, we'd never have any threads longer than 3 posts. And I'd have to ban myself for making THIS post.
