Get your ears flushed, and the money will come rolling in.
Who knew being successful in VO was that simple?

Turbo Charge Your Voice Over Vocation
To begin as a Voiceover performer, you will need to be sure that you are are OK bothpsychologically and bodily. To make certain that you’ll be competent to acquire and carry out on your commission, you must develop both your skillsets as well as your ability to finish the process at hand. So that you can able to meet your requirements, you must learn what those demands are – the drawback with that is which no-one ever informs you which stuff – so far!
Get your eyes examined
You’ll be asked to read aloud therefore you should be sure that your vision is good. So make an appointment to get them examined. If you have a problem, get it corrected so which you don’t put your eyes under increased strain.
Try to get your ears flushed
You need to be able to listen to the customer, for you to quickly comprehend the essence of whatever they want you to do within the Voiceover piece and understand the alterations and tweaks which they will want you to make, in order to perfect your Voiceover work.
Breathe Correctly
You will need to be able to control your breathing, so which your pauses are placed precisely and which your voiceover recording isn’t littered with lots of breath sounds, which will surely have to be edited out. So, get yourself fit and be able to take in air from the abdomen. If you have a respiratory problem, go to your current doctor to get it examined out and optimise any treatment that you might need.
By completing these three simple steps, you will be well on the way to a successful Voiceover career. |

I prefer this method:
Grab a handful of marbles and place as many of them into your mouth as you can hold. Then read the following:
"Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Cras adipiscing leo non ligula facilisis pulvinar. Cras sed elit sit amet leo placerat gravida at sed libero. In hac habitasse platea dictumst. Nam iaculis magna at neque auctor at congue orci tempus. Aliquam ac sem vel magna feugiat varius. "
Remove one marble and re-read the paragraph.
Remove another marble and read it again.
Continue in this manner. Once you have lost all your marbles, you are a Voiceoverist. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

Craig, after starting the day with a decided chill (from the news about DC Douglas), this sure path to voice overist success has warmed the cockles of my heart. Especially:

So which to laugh it is. |

On his comedy album 'Put Your Head On My Finger,' radio host, 'Laugh-In' announcer and longtime VO Gary Owens had a sketch called 'The Golden Voice Announcer School.' Gary opens by saying: "Have you ever said to yourself - I would like a career in radio announcing? If the answer to that is 'yes,' then you're going about it in the wrong way. You should say it to someone else."
It's interesting (or, "fascinating," as Mr. Spock would say) that there are so many entities out there today who are intent on convincing those eager for a career (and perhaps a bit naive) that it really is rather easy to be successful in voice-over.
What makes it even more interesting (yet funny in a weird way), Gary Owens put this album out in the late 1960s or early 70s. Was he able to foretell the future? Here's how to enroll in Gary's school: "Send $13,000 - and any priceless heirloom - to Golden Voice Announcer School, care of Phil's Barber Shop, Waco, Texas."
Oh... I just visited the 'Turbo-Charge your VO Vocation' website and discovered that someone commented quite appropriately: "And I believe that if the author of this nonsensical drivel were to enjoy a nice warm, soapy enema, he or she could be on the road to a much needed lobotomy." _________________ Mike

Good stuff! I thought I wasn't VO material, but I get those bases covered in no time!
This is akin to saying something like:
Kickstart you career as a neuro-surgeon
1st, wash your hands as it makes the patients feel more comfortable.
2nd, blow your nose before operations. Sniffing can distract you from delicate procedures.
3rd, always wear comfortable shoes as you will be standing for extended periods of time.
Follow these 3 simple steps and you are on the road to a career as a successful neuro-surgeon.
Anyway, I'm off to go get my eyes examined so I can get the ball rolling! _________________ Mandarin Chinese Voiceovers & Localization
