....to start a thread about VOICE2010.
DISCLAIMER: I'm again acting as a host, and this year a presenter at the conference...so I DO have a vested interest in it's success.
The event is about 9 weeks away, now, and it'd be great to know who's planning to attend from among the VO-BB'ers here.
The maiden-voyage of VOICE in 2007 saw a big showing from the VO-BB...2008 a bit of a decrease.
IF you haven't seen the line-up of presenters and seminars yet, you might want to stop over at http://www.VOICE2010.com. Pretty impressive.
I'll not get into the highly-subjective debate of whether this is worth your time and money. Personally, I think it's an incredibly good price for the return-on-investment...but I'm driving to the conference, and many will have significantly higher travel costs.
Ask anyone who's been before, and you'll likely get a gushy response. I was walking on air for about a week after both past events. Just being able to share the room with the likes of Bob Souer, Pat Fraley, Nancy Wolfson, Todd Ellis, Bruce Miles, Liz de Nesnera, and DB Cooper is quite a heady experience.
This event is a one-of-a-kind, and if you'e going, I'd hope at some point to have a VO-BB huddle over an ice-cold...uh...er...Pepsi...yeah, that's it.
I do want to mention that if you're a SaVoa member, there is a special discount, and a chance to win a free ticket through a drawing. Those details should be up on the SaVoa.org site in the next day or so.
So, whadya think, peeps?

As my 50th birthday was getting ever closer I was trying to think of something vaguely interesting to do by way of celebration, something unashamedly for me, something fun, bit of an adventure and largely pointless. POP into my inbox a note from John Taylor asking if I would be a panelist for his Saturday morning session "Voiceoverists from the trenches". Dat voss dat! Long weekend in LA, curry and talking sh*te! Happy birthday to me! I would like to say "I arrive" but am happier to be able to say WE arrive on the Friday after luncheon and leave on the Sunday afternoon. WE? I had a phone call earlier this week from Elisa Canas who asked about my flights and VOICE, she thought about it and decided to come along as my full-time caregiver. Soon both of us will know what it's like to be sitting next to a Voiceoverist on a long-haul flight.
VO "What do you think about the wine they're serving?"
Fellow passenger who after 2 hours now knows where every question is going "You're just going to tell me about a wine voice job you did aren't you?"

Dave,
I too will be there as John Taylor asked me to be on the same panel that Philip is on. I will, of course, have nothing to say once Philip is finished so but I will be ever so glad to see Elisa again. And you. And Liz. And all the many others who will be there. And to have curry for only the second time in my life. _________________ Be well,

Ohhhh I just cant wait! Its going to be so lovely to see some of the friendly faces that greeted Philip and I in NYC and meet a whole bunch more, now that we get to do it all again in LA! What a lucky pair we are!
If the in-flight safety anno voice isnt up to scratch, Philip and I will start flinging biz cards wildly at the cabin crew and if the pilot isnt quite up to scratch...well... 'Philip....hop into the cockpit and sort out the turbulence will ya?!'
Come on June! Get a move on! _________________ E: elisa@elisacanas.com

I will be there as John Florian invited me on a panel about why short obnoxious people get into voice over and how the industry can shut them up or out or both.
I am the only panelist and it's possible the audience may be armed and I am sure they will be dangerous. _________________ - Peter

I'm bummed I'm gonna miss the curry.
Oh, and everyone. Really and truly. I've yet to meet many of you in person, and would so love to. But I guess it'll have to wait.
I will be in LA the week of June 20, though, for Promax... so if there are any other vo-bb folks that will be there, let's get together for a Pepsi. _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

I'm looking forward to my first VOICE shindig, and can't wait to connect (re-connect in some cases) with my fellow VO-BB'ers! (Caryn, you'll be missed.)
I'll also be attending in the professional capacity of Peter O'Connell's human shield and personal re-grammarizer.
Though Peter, I take issue with a comment you made:

You're not that short...

I'll be there! I don't think I'll be able to attend any/many of the sessions, as I'm going primarily to help my friend Martha with her booth. But please count me in on all the after-hours shenanigans! _________________ the Amy Snively family of brands for all your branded thing needs.

Duuno why she needs a chauffeur—We all drive on the same side of the road in this country.
To quote my pal Bob, I too will be there as John Taylor asked me to be on the same panel that Philip is on. The panel will be mostly useless since there are so many people on it, once we all introduce ourselves and tell a little bit about what we do in the aforementioned trenches, the hour will be over. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Ok. Could they make the website any more complicated? I just wanna know if I decide to come how much it will cost me. Not the a la cart stuff. It shouldn't take me 10 minutes and several click throughs to try to figure that out. Finally found it and I did enjoy the video while I was looking.
I'm not sure I can but I'm looking into it. _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog
