Jeff Kafer WINS as the "making it happen" guy last night.
Some of us were hungry and so we got together a few VOBBers and decided to hoof it over to a restaurant in the nearby mall.
We ended up with18 people!! The place was "the Pink Taco", and they made a HUGE effort to accommodate us all.
Everything was FAB.
No pix from me at the moment.
MY only image was a slightly smeary thing of Jeff at the restaurant that is reminiscent of one of Francis Bacon's Pope paintings. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

SO great seeing everyone!!!
And for the first time in my life, I showed up to an event without a camera. I mean, really, HOW embarrassing! So, we'll just have to do it again...uhm...Friday? _________________ Threadjackers local 420

Liz says "close by my ass". she WAS on crutches after all.
Having a fabby time. Taking pictures, just too damn lazy to post them. Good sessions- AWESOME seeing everyone...and for the record NOT everyone thinks the dolphin necklaces are gay- you know who you are... Ms Liz's telephony session was AMAZING.
it's always the best time when our VO-BB fabby family busts out into the 3D world. _________________ Moe Egan

Thanks for the invite Deirdre !!
I really wanted to join you all at Pink Taco. I just had so much work to get through so I could enjoy the rest of the weekend.
It was so nice to meet everyone. _________________ The Blog:

Mike,
It's a great joy to meet you in person and to see and/or meet everyone. Philip landed safe and sound today. What a great delight to get to shake himself's hand in person once again to to visit with Elisa and Amy and just everyone. _________________ Be well,

Great to see some photos! I noticed that only a few opted for a fork. _________________ "Bailey"

We're back home, safe and sound (luckily...story below), and still glowing from the lovely dinner for 20 we were part of. It was so wonderful to see you all again and for the first time. We've got to do something like this again but, as discussed, on a simpler, smaller scale than a major conference. Go someplace centrally located so airfares are reasonable (that would be Newfoundland if we can get Banksey to come again, or Buenos Aires if Matt can come up from down under again) and IF we want to, invite maybe two or three interesting people we want to hear from, and otherwise just socialize/network like we did last night.
The six hour drive over was easy and the six hour drive home starting at 10:30pm was a little more difficult (yawn) but successful with one really scary moment. We were on the I-10 I'm guessing about 25 miles into our journey (El Monte area?) and traffic was fairly heavy but we were still going 65-70mph. I noticed a pair of headlights coming quickly from behind, darting back and forth between lanes like the Highway Patrol often does trying to catch speeders. All of a sudden this loud, hopped up Honda came roaring up behind us and with squealing tires passed us to the right missing our rear end by literal inches. Then two more of these mini hotrods zoomed and careened right past us (these are the turbocharged Japanese cars that gang bangers and the like seem to favor) and they're all easily going up to 100mph darting back and forth wildly among the hundreds of cars ahead of us. As we and our neighboring cars slow a bit and I say "there's an accident about to happen" we hear several rapid shots from an automatic. A minute later a police helicopter is buzzing the freeway with a searchlight but we heard or saw nothing else the rest of the night. Holy gobsh*te, Batman! The adrenaline kept us charged for the next hundred miles for sure.
