No matter how new your computer is, back up your files.
We just lost 6 months' worth of movies and photos because the drive on our Brand-new (bought December 31) iMac failed. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Deirdre,
Ouch! And thank you for the reminder to get a back-up session going for my new Dell. _________________ Be well,

Carbonite.com $55 a year. I can't tell you how important off site storage has been for me. I make a habit of crashing computers just so I can recover them (ouch) I've learned the hard way that backing up pictures, documents, etc on a DVD, detachable drive or whatever other media you have is only complimented with an off site back up solution. I hope you didn't lose too much good stuff... _________________ "I'm thinking...and it hurts" |

Sorry for your losses - thanks for the reminder, I'm saving all my computer/programs/doc stuff right now. I always create backups for my recordings, but I really need to save everything else too! _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover

Backed up this past weekend.
There are places that can recover that data for you... probably cost something though. _________________ Charter Member: Threadjackers Local 420 |

I'm with Azkope - Carbonite Carbonite Carbonite. Requires absolutely no effort on my part, and recovery is a breeze.
As CC said, there are companies that can retrieve info from a hard drive - even when it's seriously fried - but it's co$tly. Sometimes insurance will cover it though, so check your policy. _________________ Happy to be here.

I use Carbonite. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. (As a bonus, when I got my new desktop box recently, switching everything over was a breeze!) _________________ the Amy Snively family of brands for all your branded thing needs.

Another Carboniter over here. Half the time I forget it's even there. It's kinda like it's out-of-sight out-of-mind peace-of-mind. _________________ Justin S. Barrett

I've been using Carbonite for about 3 years now and it's come in handy more than once. _________________ Scott R. Pollak
