I very much want/need to be able to start producing my own work. I have the ability and Know how to do it, but I lack the necessary music beds and sound effects necessary to actually perform the production. I have found places that sell music beds and effects, but the ones I've found want about a hundred dollars per CD and each cd is only 1 particular theme or ambience. If you want a variety for various different kinds of reads you would spend over a thousand dollars....and that's just the music beds....the effects I've found are just as expensive and the same type of deal where each cd is a particular category of effect......again making you spend over a thousand dollars to get a decent variety of effects. If you don't mind, please tell me where you got the collections you use for production and about how much it costs. There's got to be cheaper avenues for quality music beds and effects. Thank You. I appreciate any suggestions anyone can provide. If this is not info you would like to post for all to read, could you please PM me? Thanks again.

I like the TracksNow libraries. REAL music and quite a variety of styles.

Bailey gave ya a good tip - Radio Mall is a good outfit.

I have the Mussel Shoals collection, and even though it is a bit dated, it ain't no big thing because it's background music. There are a lot of little extras besides the variety of beds.

Dave Dworkin - He is Mr. Radio Mall - also offers a very decent 5 CD set of sfx called The Gateway collection. Not bad for the dough.

Good luck from a fellow Coloradan!

And, don't forget Zings,Zaps and DooDads from Radio Mall if you're going to be producing stagers of any kind.

http://www.shockwave-sound.com

I've bought several individual tracks from them as well as the Guitar Rock collection for use on a new TV show I'm working on. Some real kickass guitar work on that disc!

There are also plenty of other ready-made collections or you can put together your own custom disc. Not a bad price either Smile

These guys had a booth at the GDC.
Royalty-free music of all types, production elements, freakin' insanely bizarre sound effects collections.

Banksey,

LOL How true about FM "pingZapPowWhoosh". <g> The folks that use me to "image" have people to "pingZapPowWhoosh" for me. I suspect that eventually people will specialize. "Yes, I'd love to help on the project but I only do Zaps and Pows. Bob over there does the Pings and Wooshes." Thankfully, boings are out of style.

WOW! You guys/gals are awesome! Thank You Thank You Thank You! I blelieve I have MORE than enough here to satisfy my need. You all have helped me tremendously fill a crucial gap. I'm extremely grateful and I'm very happy I joined this site. You don't find this kind of comraderie very often. If you belong to any other BB type sites, members aren't all that willing to help or even interact with newcomers. Usually they want to see someone around for a fairly long time before accepting them. You all have interacted with me and helped me immensely the very first day I became a member. I can't thank you all enough for your friendliness.
