Hi-
If you have the time, I would appreciate your comments on this draft for a new commercial demo. Thank you in advance for your time and thoughs.

Hi Tony. I think you have a nice voice, Easy on the ears.
About the demo - one thing that stuck out to me is that your voice sounds the same to me all the way through. If I came across your demo while casting, I would think you only had one read... which, you know, if the read is right it's right, but it might not get your demo submitted to clients as much as a demo with more variety.
If you're interested in adding more variety, you might find it helpful to pick some specific read styles (conversational, announcer, warm, quirky) and shoot for those, rather than just trying to sound different.
Not sure how much acting background you have, but you might also find it helpful to make up a character with a little back story for each spot. Even car spots can benefit from this in my opinion.
As a total video game geek side note, your third to last (second to last?) clip with the effects on your voice sounded just like one of the Men In Black from Deus Ex. |

Whit-
Thank you and thank you for listening. Is sounding like Deus Ex a good thing?
I can do variations and other sounds, but in this one I was trying to stay withing my "power hitting" zone. (We just got a new pitcher in DC, so I'm tending toward baseball of late). Not sure what the consensus is, though.
Here, my current target markets are: (1) industrials for government agencies; (2) Discovery-channel and National Geographic type narrations;
(3) live naration of not-for-profits's annual meetings and award ceremonies.
Again, thank you and I'll listen in with the editor to see if we can add some variations.

Deus Ex is one of my favorite games, so I'll say yeah, a good thing. |

Hi Tony - apologies for the late feedback, but hopefully it's of some use to you if I chime in, with the caveat that I'm somewhat of a newbie.
First of all, I love your voice! It's got a great sound. I agree with Whit: It sounds like you've got the same problem I've got with my new demo - the reads are very similar.
If you're looking for more ad copy, this site might be worth a look: http://www.edgestudio.com/scripts.htm - they've got a bundle of free scripts, and seem to be on the level. All the same, if you do register it might be worth using a throw-away address.
Other feedback:
Have a listen to the words "220" in the Verizon spot, and "simplicity" in the Olympus spot - they could possibly do with clearer pronunciation?
Hope that helps in some way. _________________ http://kevinpowe.com

Kevin-
Thank you very much for taking the time to listen, and thank you for your kind words.
Since Whit commented, I've been playing around with some other pieces for different texture and variations in the sounds and reads. When I get close to being a little more diverse I'll publish. In the interim I've been working on a long form narration demo and an audio book demo. After those, I'll go back and cut the new adds.
I listened to both the pronounciation spots and I'll fix those. Great catch.
Thanks again and best wishes.
