That's article marketing. They post hundreds of articles (loaded with specific keywords) on their own blog or free article sites specifically just to create some "linkback love." The only thing that person cares about is the last link on the page - "Home Schooling." It's unfortunate, but it's part of MLM/Internet Marketing. It's somewhat nauseating.

Wow. With so many people revealing the 'secrets' of voice-over, it's becoming so tabloid-esque. Golly... haven't all our 'secrets' been told by now? And it's even worse when those with microscopically little knowledge (if any) of our profession feel a need to preach.

One thing they have proven is that there can be a whole lot of talk... with nothing said.

Hear, all ye blatherers: put a fwiggin' sock in it.

Well... technically it is true.

Anybody CAN get into VO. Just like anybody CAN get into Brain Surgery, Rocket Science or Quantum Physics. Just because one CAN doesn't necessarily mean that they SHOULD.

Anyone can speak. But not everyone can speak well. Me? Personally, I speak much better when I have the words that I need to speak posted in front of me. When left to my own devices, it's best for me to remain silent - otherwise I prove that old adage from Lincoln to be true.

If you wish to get into VO, you can make thousands of dollars at it. Unfortunately for most, that first thousand usually occurs after years and years and years of banging their head against the wall, and spending exponentially more than they earn on lessons, equipment and comping their wares in an vain effort to become famous. Even then the chances of acquiring a second thousand likely never ever materialises.

It would appear that in those cases the ones making the thousands of dollars would be those preying on them, blowing smoke up their skirts and telling them how fabulous they are and if they just spend another 15 weeks at 150/a week for a 45-minute session they will be ready for their demo. Then the demo arrives....

It seems that there are two industries in VO. Those who are actually good their craft, and those who would prey on those who wish they were good at it.

Sorry was that too jaded?

I refer to the latter (those referred to in the first paragraph) as the 'Pied Pipers' of voice-over. I worked a short time for one before I saw the smoke and mirrors. From another children's story comes the reality: "The Emperor isn't wearing anything at all."

i could have used one of those pied pipers of voiceover here at the studio to drive away the rats. but the cat i got from the kooks who posted her on craigslist, plus the 4 grand i spent buttoning up the house pretty much did it. still, a guy with a flute (or a pipe?) probably would have worked.

Way too jaded. After all, we all know about the bags of money landing at the front door!

But to be honest, so far none today.

But hey, it's only 3 o' clock!
