|
|
Well, actually, I'm not looking for three things--rather just one thing.
A scanner/copier/printer combo.
What do you guys use? Not wanting to spend a fortune, but also want something that's good quality and won't be a recycleable in a year. And economical toner use is very important.
Any suggestions, pros, cons etc. would be most welcome. |

I've been using an HP PSC 1300 for a few years now with no troubles. Does it all. Ink's not real cheap but I'm using it a lot less these days by reading off the monitor and sending F's instead of faxes.

HP 6310 All-In-One.
Printer jammed on day two, and will not unjam, so I only use it for the scanner (which when sent to the laser becomes a copier, of course).
I picked up a Samsung laser printer for $75 on a "model clearance" for my printery needs. |

Epson Workforce 310 has been working fine for me for about a year
whatever you buy - make sure you can find aftermarket ink that will work with it --- otherwise, you pay $60 for a device - then never use it again because it costs $200 to fill it with ink! _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

Epson Workforce 600. It's been pretty solid. Haven't had a chance to fax w/ it yet. |

For the last 10 months we tried to use a dell 1320 Color Laser as the printer, and a Lexmark 5650 for scanning, faxing..
Quality on the Lexmark sucked, and WAY to slow. The 1320 printed nicely, but was starting to make strange noises and I feared its invevitable death.
We just upgraded to the Dell 2145CN all-in-one. We are LOVING it...
It'll connect either USB or NETWORK (So, you don't need to have a dedicated PC sitting next to the printer..the 1320 did this too, though)
Toner has a 5,000 page rating.
It will duplex automatically (very important for us)
It has an automatic document feeder...
It will scan directly into any computer configured on the network.
It will automatically copy a 2-sided page to either another 2-sided page, or separate it out to two 1-sided pages....
Its saving us a bunch on paper.....
Really powerful unit for the price.

The 1320 has now been demoted to my office, and the new one is in the front office. Now I have a lexmark all-in-one I don't need any more and a monochrome dell laser I don't need anymore. _________________ Glen Pavlovich

yeah, but once the "starter" ink runs out it'll cost you $150 to re-fill. cheaper to buy 5 of 'em and throw them away once they run out of juice! _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

cheaper for your wallet. bad for the planet.
i have an hp officejet 6210 that i nabbed from dh's office. swapped him for some dell laserjet (black only) i found on ebay years ago and to which i had replaced the cartridge just once. swapped because i needed a built-in fax and scanner. somehow i managed to hook up only the black ink cartridge so i wasn't busting out color everywhere. i find replacement ink at costco and it's reasonably priced. _________________ sitting at #8, though not as present as I'd like to be. The Epson Artisan 810 can print regular or photo-quality prints, can connect via either ethernet or wireless and scans, prints and faxes. It can scan a F to your computer from the printer itself (useful if it is in another room) and has a good document feeder as well as auto-duplex printing. It is also very easy to use and has a very good lcd panel for controlling its functions. Finally, it can even print photos directly from a memory card.
