I just found this deal at SoundRite Acoustics on Roxul AFB and thought others might be interested:
Sixteen (16!) panels of 3" x 24" x 48" Roxul AFB for $84.33. Shipping to my location (Long Beach, CA) is just $9.91. http://tinyurl.com/2fryf6k
For comparison, ATS sells a 6 pack of 2" x 24" x 48" AFB for $34 and shipping to my location is another $34.

Of course, the shipping may be different to your location, so you may not get such a great deal. But for me, this SoundRite deal may make those superchunks do-able after all.
PS. They also have ultratouch cotton for a pretty good price, if you prefer the natural stuff (8 Batts/ Bag - 3.5” x 24” x 94” = 126 sq. ft for $136). _________________ Teacher, Voice Actor, Balloon Twister, Tuvan Throat Singer (I know... weird, right?) |

That's a good find, and a good price.
Unless your putting the Ultratouch in the wall, it can be a little difficult to work with. _________________ The Blog:

Acoustics are counter-intuitive. If one thing is certain about acoustics, it is that if anything seems obvious it is probably wrong. |

Well, it turns out this deal isn't real. I placed my order online a few days ago. I got an email today saying they don't have a distributor in my area and are canceling my order.
They distribute AFB in NY, MA, CT, NH, FL, NJ, DC, PA, MD.
They do have a California distributor for Ultratouch. _________________ Teacher, Voice Actor, Balloon Twister, Tuvan Throat Singer (I know... weird, right?) |

I would not use Ultratouch. Besides it's expensive.
Johns Manville Insul-Shield is your best bet.
Viking Insulation in Burbank carries it.
There should be a distributer down in the LBC area.
There is a place in the city of Commerce that carries a wide range of insulation materials, but the name escapes me for the moment. _________________ The Blog:
