Oh, just one question: what was the roar about at the end? I have several theories... _________________ Charter Member: Threadjackers Local 420 |

Two thoughts- why is it with these types of videos "faster is better" seems to be the rule?
And - just because you can, does it mean you should? _________________ Moe Egan

No. And that applies to watching it all the way through as well.
Which I did.
Because I couldn't help myself. _________________ Justin S. Barrett

My Bluetooth mouse died and the keyboard lost connection. I had no control over my lovely Macintosh crate so I left the room until the video finished. Damn you Apple! _________________ J. Christopher

Well, this hemisemidemitalented person kept me going for a full :14. And it is shocking to think that almost 5 million folks have watched probably all of this and gone, "wow, that was amazing!" And now he's tied into Google advertising so he's making some moolah off of this.
Thanks a lot Philip.

Of course the impersonations aren't great, but the ability to switch gears that quickly is a skill all good VOAs ought to have (not implying that he is a good talent either way). We all get directed to in a snap say a brief phrase with the motivation of a completely different character or new variation of the same character.
Let's hear someone do better. Of course these impersonations aren't great, many are downright awful (in part due to the speed) and he's playing to the cheap seats, but it's much easier to dismiss this than to improve it or learn from it.
C'mon, we all know the saying "Fast, Good, and Cheap...pick two". This fellow is offering fast and cheap. You really expect good too? Sometimes fast and cheap is what is required. I'm very surprised at the reactions to this. Seems like picking on the kid that's "not one of us".
I suppose this comes from the "you have to grab me in the first five seconds" mentality we all have. Shame, you'll miss some nice things in life if you always adhere to that (not that this is nice). _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover

Like most things in the voice over business, no one really gives a flying toss. The original post was my idea at some light relief, nothing more. Is he any good, can we develope at a deeper professional level by studying his technique, should we dig into our creative being and top what he did? I've no idea and I don't care, it was just a bit of fun.
One thing I DO care about - All of you, have a completely fabby September both personally and in your businesses. |
