In the words of the Village People, "Everybody wants to be a star in Hollywood"

I don't think this guy is in business anymore.

This guy has taken over the market in the valley:

Like the old musicians' joke about tempo: not too slow, not too fast, kind of half-fast.

that just reminded me, we have a new restaurant here called Hugh Jass Burgers.
Don't know if it's a chain or not.
This from a town where we also make Big Ass Fans for barns and industrial buildings.

My dad used to say, "There are two ways to do something: assed or half-assed."

By the way, I have a client who sounds like Kermit the Frog with a Lebanese accent. For years he has done his own commercials with his sons. He knows he sounds "non-professional" (but he sure is distinctive) so he and the boys do the shtick and I come in with the information that needs to be conveyed to the audience.

When I lived in Washington State, I used to catch some late-night commercials for "The Captain's Bargain Store" in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Captain was a perky 300+ pound guy who had no budget for proper production, so he made all the ads for his pawn shop with a camcorder. They were quirky and clever and managed to increase his business, but some were just a tad too weird. There was at least one where he was running around with no shirt on. I think I still have some of his spots saved on (*gulp*) VHS, and will be sure to share them here if I ever unearth them.

Believe it or not, there is such a thing as a Big-Ass tuba... my dear hubby is a tuba player and clued me in to that one. It's a 6/4 tuba (you can read more than you ever wanted to know about tubas here: http://www.rickdenney.com/tubas_compared.htm), can be a BBb (B double flat), or CC. they're usually abbreviated to BAT. I only ever saw one once and that was with the Air Force Band of Liberty (based out of Hanscom in Massachusetts). Nice sound. Nothing half-assed about it.

Back when we lived in MA, we used to cringe at the Bernie & Phyl's Furniture Store ads -- the jingle was awful, Bernie & Phyl both did on-camera and VO, and sometimes they'd have a child choir singing their jingle... out of tune. Memorable? Yes. Effective? We didn't shop there, but lots of people did, but not sure if it was the ads or the cheap prices.

Then, there was the auto dealer whose name I can't recall now who would appear on top of his sign, shouting at the top of his lungs and pretending he was about to fall off the sign.
