Email from Jennifer in LA, received about 20 minutes ago. I honestly don't remember meeting her.

Below is the important part of the email.

"You were so nice to me when we met I decided I should go along to the panel on Saturday morning. What you guys said lit a fire under my butt. My (named pay to play sites) were due in June and July so I got my VOICE2010 money back by not renewing any of them. I'm marketing more, auditioning less and booking more

Well done Team Trenches.

Phillip,

I wasn't at the conference so didn't hear your panel. Is the inference here that the P2P subscription sites are a waste of time? I'm on several and as a result, not only am I winning auditions, making money (in excess of the fees) but am gaining regular clients as a result. This is on top of my agent's gigs, constant marketing, networking, social media etc etc that also gains me returning clients.

I would imagine that "YMMV" would apply in this situation, as with any other situation involving P2P sites. Some folks have great success with them. Others don't. I've been on the two main P2P players for a year now. Haven't landed a single job on one, and got two jobs right at the beginning of my subscription on the other, with nothing more since then. In contrast, my own marketing efforts in the past six months have netted me MUCH more than a year of auditioning on those sites. I'll likely let the subscription on the fruitless one lapse into oblivion later this month, and hang on to the other a hair longer.

The post was about someone saying they have enjoyed a degree of success having acted on a number of points raised by the panel at VOICE2010. Reality is that it was about more than P2P sites.

.

Regardless of your take on the P2P sites, this is a great goal for all of us:

hmmmm, I don't remember anyone on the panek saying anything useful. Maybe it just didn't filter to the back of the room. Or it could be that I was simply fixated on this red dress I had seen a certain voice coach wearing and couldn't pay attention to anything else.

A number of credible words of genius were spoken, I just don't happen to remember any of them.

J.S probably didn't notice anything the panel said because of fond memories of Nancy's curves and the fact he isn't a morning person ....or a afternoon person ........or an evening person......AND DON'T GET HIM STARTED ON HOW HE IS AT NIGHT!

She'll read this and be a broken woman.

It was all going so well until she saw me kissing Nancy Wolson and then I think she guessed it was over.

Indeed, after reading Philip's reply, I was trying to figure out when I am at my best and for the life of me, I couldn't come up with an answer.

But who needs a panel to advise you when you have a magic 8 ball. Mine just said "The answers you seek shall be revealed shortly".

I'm not sure what answers they are though, because I seem to have forgotten the question.

Only one vital question in life. Fries or baked potato with that? In the case of most VOICE2010 delegates they're asking that question of a regular client.
