I have a client who wants to pay via American Express over the phone, since his office blocks the Paypal website. Is there a way that as the vendor, I can enter someone's Amex info into Paypal to get paid?

I use Merchant Warehouse for all those CC transactions, Jeff.... works great!...and they take AMEX.

There's a sign-up process, but if you decide to go through with it. Let them know I referred you, please.

I guess your client could give you the number plus the four digit ID number on the front of the card (if needed) and you could enter it yourself...but I'm thinking you'd have to do it from outside of your account somehow (not logged in). Maybe create a PayPal invoice and send it to one of your non-PayPal email addresses and then follow that back for payment. So long as you have provable permission from the card holder to do that, I'm thinking you're in the clear.

sooo, it turns out Paypal won't work for that because it's already linked to a paypal account.

But thanks to Dave for processing the card for me. And his 50% service fee was totally worth it!

Jeff:
Check around locally, and I know you'll find some payment processors who can do a good job for you. I went from paying Hobo Tounge's $30/month for their virtual terminal (and losing money) to a company here in Cincy that only charges me $7/month, and their fees are a lot lower too. I don't know if they are looking for accounts outside of Ohio, but I'll be glad to refer if you wish

Jeffrey kids....I charged him nothing for the favor... and I pay a monthly fee for the credit card transaction service, so his payment will only lose a few dollars in translation between my bank and PayPal.
