In the stainless steel dish some pickled shalots (baby onions) and they are very nice if you have a palate which likes a crunchy zing. In the glass dish a home made seafood cocktail sauce in which to dip the large prawns(shrimps). Also present, black olives, green stuffed olives, small cocktail type sausages, pastrami, a mix of leaves and some sliced pickled gherkin. If you're looking for the sinful it has to be the 3 small slices of french country style wholemeal bread with OH NO! LOW FAT BUTTER. Which is a bit like taking sugar free cyanide.
Interesting to note that I feel well nourished yet my input of fat, salt and sugar was negligible. |

No pictures, but here was the Easter feast I prepared (I am very proud of it and it went down a treat with the gang)
Carrot and Turnip in nutmeg butter
Creamed Spinach with peas
Potato, cauliflower and mushroom croquettes in chick pea flour crumb.
My ubiquitous tahini cookies (which were also given out in the goody bags)
and, the tour de force, RASPBERRY SAUCE for the ham and veg.
I don't know why I made up the idea of raspberry sauce with the dinner, but last week I decided we needed a sauce and was tasting the food in my imagination to see what flavor would compliment and delight. Never even heard of raspberry sauce before, but I decided to make one. Everyone was thrilled with it. Dante said it was like eating at a gourmet restaurant.
I had to chuckle when people started putting it on their desserts as well though, the old biddies didn't quite get that it was a savory/sweet combination with vinegar and vegetable stock in it! Bless them... and who was I to tell them otherwise... mmm.. easter cake with vinegar and vegetable stock! |

Since I'm home sick today, all I had for lunch was a bag of popcorn. Really nice huh? _________________ Christopher G. French

Looks and sounds real yummy
I just couldn't help myself and cracked open a tamarind date chutney after reading that, chomping on tandoori nan as I type...
My husband Dante, who also loves Indian food, said "That's obviously a photo from a restaurant..." I said I didn't think it was. Who is right? |
