With a little down time on my hands, I decided to revisit the 2005 Transom Mic Shootout. It's been 5 yrs, so I don't remember any of the results, thus, I thought my opinion would be totally unbiased and as objective as possible as I didn't peak at the results until after my listening.

I'm not sure of the preamps, room, etc. All I know is that I was listening to a bass male voice, (similiar to mine), and in mp3 format. I was listening with a totally aesthetic POV, tried to make my judgement based on a non colored, natural sound that captured the VO as neutral and pleasing as possible.
So for what it's worth, here, from my humble ears, are my impressions:
MIC A - bassy, background noise
MIC B - too bright
MIC C - kind of wooly and muffled
MIC D - nice bassy, smooth
MIC E - bright
MIC F - not too bad
MIC G - GOOD
MIC H - excessive top and bottom end
MIC I - Okay, natural bass
MIC J - very bright
MIC K - rough
MIC L - honky
MIC M - bad
MIC N - nice, limited background noise
MIC O - excesssive mouth noise
MIC P - Bassy
MIC Q - Bright
MIC R - Present, kind of bright, no background noise
and here's the key:
A - Studio Projects B1
B - Sennheiser 421
C - AKG 414
D - TLM 103
E - Shure SM7
F - U 87
G - Shure SM58
H - Rode NT 1
I - AT 4050
J - Shure SM57
K - Shoeps P48
L - Shure KSM 141
M - Shure KSM 27
N - Shure KSM 32
O - Shure KSM 44
P - Oktava 319
Q - AKG C3000
