Hi all,
Thanks in advance for your help..here's my setup.
Macbook pro...Audio Technica usb mic, using audacity...all is fine and recording well, but i can't hear myself in my headphones when auditioning.
I believe I have the settings correct in my macbook pro preferences --I can hear songs when I play them off of itunes...but not when I am recording on Audacity. Or even when I'm not recording but just talking into the mic.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong? Is there something I need to set in Audacity?

Thanks so much,

Lori

Lori - with that setup, unless the USB mic itself had a headphone jack, you cannot listen to your voice as you speak into the mic, only on playback.

To listen to your voice in real time, you'd have to have a USB mic with a jack, or a mixer or outboard interface, to listen as you record.

It has nothing to do with Audacity.

Many VO talent do not use headphones, so it shouldn't hold you back.

Google Centrance MicportPro to see an interface with with headphone jack.

Thanks so much. Good to know. I don't necessarily need headphones while recording anyway...just would be nice to have the option. Hmm. Guess that'll have to wait for if/when I upgrade the "studio.."

The Shure PG42USB is a nice upgrade option for you, with the feature you seek.
