I am sorry to say I have been insanely busy with holidays, plant maintenance, domestic politics, and work to pay attention to this board every second of every day recently.
Looks like a couple of threads got pretty ripe in here, so I moved 'em to Limbo.
MY DEARS.
I just don't have the time for bullshit at the moment, so I'd really freaking appreciate it if it could be kept out of my goddamned forums. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

I didn't think it was a futile excercise, worthy of being kicked to the curb. Quite frankly, I have better things to do, and better places I can have my opinions discounted.
Love ya, love ya, but it was obviously not to be.
If anybody would like an opinion that doesn't stink of cotton candy and rainbows, you can find me at jsgilbert@pacbell.net
Deirdre, I love you to pieces and this is certainly your house. Too bad there isn't some way to have everyone be welcome. _________________ j.s. gilbert

My Dear — There were a great many excellent contributions to that thread.
Unfortunately, there were some real stinkbombs, too— and that spoiled the whole thing.
My house, my rules, yeah— and I know it pisses people off when I exact this kind of discipline; I've gotten hatemail about it.
However: I do not allow bile, invective, ad hominem attacks, or insults.
I apologize to all the reasonable members of this board for pulling the plug on the entire thread. I wish I could simply excise the pissing contest, but I just don't think it's possible. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

And I too would like to apologize... to Vegans everywhere who may have mistaken my comment about a Vegetarian Only - Bulletin Board. I will admonish myself regarding my insensitivity in a 5 minute recording... and then punish myself by listening to it repetitively for 2 hours on my iPod.

I have no apologies- but then again I'm a true smartass.
I know you don't want to hear it and my opinion does not count, but I believe a better way to have handled it would have been to delete that which you felt was not correlative to the discussion, rather than shutting down the whole discussion.
As for stinkbombs, I relish them. And those that can't handle a few sinkbombs no and then, I say Buck up- That's life.
And besides Teatime conversations are boring. "Someone please pass me a watercress sandwich."

Then she's paying for empty discussions. Meaningless content lacking drivel- gay tea chatter, coffee talk. Which is all fine by me.
Which is why I seldom venture beyond the gear section anyway. _________________ The Blog:

I'm afraid I'll have to disagree, Mike, heartily. This board has plenty of substantive (even heated) discussions on issues important to the majority of us, and because there's a minimum of bomb throwing we have over 1,000 people who still like it here. We're a very cordial and supportive group. We're artists of a sort but not martial artists. The vast majority of us don't get off on or need trash talking. This is not a team sport where making others look bad makes us feel good. We're individual business people who don't have co-workers to back us up and help, and even our families don't always understand what we do and support us the way we'd like.
This is the meeting place of our co-workers, our business family, so you're going to see discussions from the inane to the inflammatory, but when it gets outrageously personal, and for no good reason, then it's time to step back a bit.
I'm sure I speak for the majority when I say we truly appreciate your contributions. You're a bright, personable and sometimes very funny guy. It was just painful for us to watch you and a couple of our better contributors get your buttons pushed and get into a battle of "wits" with this witless wonder newcomer.

I've enjoyed many discussions on this board for many years. I know the difference between facts and opinions. When opinions are challenged, we venture into the arena of politics and religion. Opinions are based upon our interpretation of facts as we understand them. Facts are only indisputable when all factors related to the facts are current.
Personally I don't cringe when people disagree with what I post... that's because everyone has a right to their own opinion. But when that person says to me, "You're a fool to have an opinion like that"... that is when you have crossed the line and stepped into the area. The only times I have noticed "cyber" fights on this board is the result of personal attacks. And then there are times when drunks get combatant when you try to put cuffs on them at football games... but that's another situation. _________________ "Bailey"

Not sure that's possible now, as I said, and I was not in a position to overlook the discussion as it devolved.
I am all for lively debate, but if it ventures beyond civility, it's outta here.
People who want to referee mudslinging can can enjoy that kind of thing on their own message boards. _________________ DBCooperVO.com
