Hi--

Sorry for the mad panic, but does anybody have a quick-and-specific tip for me on how to (at least) minimize breaths in Audition? I usually don't mind doing this manually, but I've got one arm in a sling and a metric buttload of audio. I could use an automated process about now!

--I bought the DeBreath plugin, but something's gone wrong in the installation process.

I can't find a noise gate in AA--where is it? (I found noise reduction--but I'm hoping for something less desrtuctive)

What about a notch filter?

Effects > Amplitude> Dynamics processing. Should be a preset in there.

you could also reduce the volume in selections by -6db or what ever sounds natural. You have to select each section though.

Eddie is right on the mark.. Manually going through your tracks and simply adjusting volume at each breath, is the most prudent if not exacting way to deal with breaths. And as I've mentioned in the other thread you can also adjust volume levels to tame the peaks too.

I have not met a breath control plugin yet that does not sound funky or smeary, or takes care of each breath in an affective manor. Besides you don't always want to take the breath out of the performance, breath is often the binder or bridge in out communication.

Today I successfully setup two Twisted Wave users with dynamics settings that de-breathed their copy very effectively, no special expensive de-breath plugin necessary. It's all in the ratio and threshold settings. I find normalized to -3db first, threshold between -52 and -45 (YMMV), ratio around 2.5:1, attack at 5ms and release at 80ms works great.
