I know this isn't going to happen but I'd thought it would be interesting to explore the possibility of "what if".
So, I hire a venue in LA or New York City for a weekend of VO wisdom, what do I call it?
"Dare to be different - Dare to be you"
Who should attend? Established pro VOs who want to move on, move up, move forward and who have a backbone!
What will we do? Challenge received wisdom, expose received ignorance and build in to your career mind-set the confidence (not arrogance) to stand up and show what you do not fall in with what THEY do.
Will there be any mic time? Not as such as you will not need a mic to prove you are a VO or that you are able to apply any ideas or techniques which are new to you.
What will you take away.
Mood
Objectivity
Nerves of steel
Earning power
You, revealed. In some cases for the first time.
Why won't it happen? Because what has to be learned most people won't like, I didn't, but I'm so pleased I did. |

Philip,
If this fantasy moves to reality, I'll be there, if I possibly can. _________________ Be well,

Toss in lap dancing and some hooka pipes, a few monkeys and a cable television installer and it sounds like a typical Saturday night at my place.
Yeah, we get some pretty darn intense here <insert> _________________ j.s. gilbert

I've just looked at the contents of the book cases in my office and whilst I've read most of them I'd like to keep 'em.
Goodnight Lady by Martina Cole, you may have that fee gratis as it was complete and utter pants. |

All you need now is a fancy logo and people will be tripping over each other to attend. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

I will have a fancy logo.
I will sell shit mics upon which I will have written my name in crayon. It will be thought of by those In the know (they know they can sell it at a profit) as the theft proof Neumann U87. Yes, so bad no one will steal it.
Like the guy experts I will have a female woman of the opposite sex co-presenter. We're looking at dates in November/December. Nancy Wolfson has provisionally agreed to work with me around these dates. Her exact words were ....
"It'll be a f***ing cold day before I work with you!" |

As Anthony would say, "Make it happen-happen!"
Let me know if you need a sh*t venue. I know some that actually have parking. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Philip,
If Miami in November/December sounds appealing, I've got the perfect venue ready and waiting. (Display table for your "Theft Proof U87!" at no additional charge. Lap dances extra.) _________________ Doug Turkel (tur-KELL)

It could be painful, but very beneficial to take a good look at the real self. Need to arrange for referrals to shrinks for those that will surely need it.
You could call it VOSER 2011 (Voice Over Self Evaluation and Realization). _________________ Gregory Best

I think I'd pay extra to see Doug do a lap dance....uh, just not on me.
