We're going to a potluck BBQ tonight, so who knows what all is for dinner, but we're doing it in a friend's high rise condo along the Willamette River here in the city where you can apparently see several fireworks shows at the same time. Should be a blast.

Too early for pics here, but I'm about to make potato salad to go with our steaks on the grill, with many veggies on the side.
Grillin' time: 5 pm. |

Let's see ... Saturday it was burgers, dogs and corn on the cob.
Sunday I went with burgers, dogs and corn on the cob.
And today, being the actual 4th of July, I feel compelled to enjoy the quintessential American summer holiday meal: burgers, dogs, and corn on the cob. (Was going to have ice cream for dessert now but I'm thinking apple pie.) _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

Just finished cutting up the casaba and Santa Claus melons. Never had them before, thought I'd give them a try. Put them with strawberries and grapes. Waiting for the cake to cool to frost it, then taking it all over to some friends' house (who have a pool! It's frickin' hot today!) for a potluck. Don't know what the main course will be.
Happy 4th everyone. _________________ We have nothing to fear but fear itself.

We went a little off the norm. We've always grilled (of course, geesh) but I started early in the AM with another coat of stain on the deck (the same deck that had me in the ER 3 weeks ago) and didn't want to cook. So I called around and found The. Best. Chinese. Food. Oohemmmgee. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting food from there again this week. Perhaps we Nelsons have started a new 4th of July tradition. Did I tell you how good the food was? Mmmmmm _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

Over here in England, I went to a 4th of July Beer festival. Wah-hay!!! Celebrating British beers made with American ingredients. To accompany same...a lovely bag of salted crisps (potato chips) at the pub-and a choccie KitKat bar, then a cous cous and veggie dog wrap after I got home. _________________ Intuit and do it!
