OK, so I've submitted my stuff to several agents recently, with one that has signed me, and another that wants to sign me, but "there's a one-time, $175.00 fee"...and the red-flag went up...has anyone ever encountered this? I've always felt that you should'nt have to pay for representation.. |

I have encountered it, and it's why I don't have local representation. Every agency in Cincinnati wants to charge you a fee. Crazy. My agents are all out of state, and none of them charge anything. You totally shouldn't have to pay for representation. |

Nevvvvvvvaaarrrrrrr pay for representation. Legit agents only get paid when they get you work. |

Don't pay for representation. There's only a slight chance that the agent will get you any work, anyway. When they do, they get paid. _________________ Jeff

Whether they ask for a fee or not is a sign of their success as an agent. Agents that are making money for themselves and their clients don't need to charge a fee.

Bwah!
The quest of an agent is always a bit upside-down.
Agents technically are working for YOU.
But to echo the sentiments already stated— an "agent" who charges in advance is an "agent" to steer clear of. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Do not pay! Even over here in England, several years ago, I got ripped off once on a scheme like that. _________________ Intuit and do it!

"Well Philip we'd love to sign y'all. Now there'll be a $175 sign up fee"
"Ooo! That's very kind of you. Will you be paying by cash or cheque?" |
