The other day, I did an audition on one of the P2P sites, a day or so later, I was contacted, saying they liked my audition, and would I be available to come to San Diego later this week..huh??

Well, the next thing I did was check the audition requirements,..nope, nothing about local talent, just isdn & source connect..I politely e-mailed them back & said I really couldn't afford a cross-country plane ticket, and I reminded them that I do have source-connect in my studio,..haven't heard any thing since..oh well..

Sometimes even good luck can be bad

Hmmm, I wonder if they don't have interns or some other lower-echelon people working the e-mails and sending on messages? I remember the promotions department at the stations I worked for always had interns contacting winners, and later if I'd meet some winner or other, oftentimes they'd tell me about the *stoopid kid* who called, or e-mailed with info on their prizes, and how they knew *nothing* about anything if a question deviated off of their phone/e-mail prompter guide.

Maybe you got a reply from a *stoopid kid* who doesn't realize that physical presence in their studio is the exception anymore, not the norm.

Well, her e-mail sig listed her as "associate producer"..I'm wondering if she was instructed to find out if I was "available" to record and she got the wrong idea..

I'd hate to think my return e-mail may have killed the gig..

I'm reminded of the running joke in the movie State and Main about "don't give her more money. Give her an Associate Producer credit"...

I'm reminded of the movie of my life: 22 and broke doing full-time Top40 radio. I asked for a raise and they said we can't give you a raise, but you can be Ass't Hobo Laughing for no further benefits if you want?

LOL.

Pam, I think we've seen it so many times I have it memorized!

Hmm... there may be an opportunity for faffing about with this.

I'll have to check out that movie Pam- that's actually why I was shown the door at my final real job- they offered me the position of News Director with twice the hours and the same pay...I turned the GM down (with a few choice words and I what I thought were obvious observations). He thought I was an unappreciative wench.

Two weeks later they decided they were going in a different direction and I wasn't getting a map.

Favorite line from William H Macy:

"I'm not lying. I have a gift for fiction."

" It'll look great on your resume, plus you can say you have management experience "

But hey I got all the free T-shirts, bumper stickers, and promotional CDs I could handle, and free pizza at remotes (in addition to the whopping $25 "talent fee") plus lonely groupies all night long on the request line....

...and to think I left all that.......
