...has anyone outgrown it? if so, please share how.
just had my first job booked through new agency, with a studio and clients i'd never met before, except through my audition.
turns out, we had a great time. a couple of the clients were heard over the talkback, laughing and pounding the desk (for all the right reasons) a couple of times.
happy ending...but there was still the "first date" syndrome before the ISDN box finally clicked in.

Yup. Still get a little jittery before a "first session" with a new client. It goes away in the first few seconds once we get to work. _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

Rowell,
I think if you don't get them you can be pretty sure you're dead ... or the next thing to it. I'm very glad you're neither and delighted you had a good time. _________________ Be well,

Good actors will tell you there's something wrong if you don't get butterflies in the stomach ahead of a first performance. I clearly felt that leading up to yesterday's game session. Amazing how you can make them disappear in seconds once you know you've hit the mark.

Pre-performance jitters are nothing more than your body going into 'knock 'em dead' mode.
Then, you're good to go! _________________ Mike

a few too many death references here so i say "long live rowell!"
and yes, while i've not been at it for 30 years, i hope to welcome the butterflies and jitters down the road just like i do now. _________________ sitting at #8, though not as present as I'd like to be. Hello!

as Zig Ziglar so eloquently put it...
If you bring a mule up on stage, it'll most likely just kind of stand there and look bored.
But bring a thoroughbred horse up, and it'll be chomping at the bit and full of nervous energy.
So be glad you're a thoroughbred....and not a mule

...appreciate the back-up. (although, rob, i know a few people who would tell you i can be "mule-headed" sometimes.) _________________ rowell gormon

What's that Francis? Oh, I agree. Rowell isn't the mule-headed one. _________________ Be well,

@ Rowell: Similar to what Mike said, I've always felt that pre-performance jitters are just your professionalism kicking in to high gear.
@ Todd: Ewwww. Just ewww. Remind me never to ask you if I could borrow some change.
@ Rob: Not to pee on Zig's cornflakes, but aren't "bored" and "full of nervous energy" pretty much persistent states for mules and thoroughbreds, respectively?
Regardless, I completely agree that Rowell's a thoroughbred! _________________ Doug Turkel (tur-KELL)

What Bruce and others have said! My grandfather (an amateur opera singer) used to say that if you're standing in the wings waiting for the curtain to go up and your knees aren't shaking, there's something wrong. After that, "the smell of the greasepaint" takes over and you're fine |

Sarah Bernhardt once said "Show me an actor who doesn't get stage fright and I'll show you someone who doesn't give a damn."
I remind myself of that statement frequently.
Thanks for asking the question Rowell, glad I'm not the only one who turns to Jello a bit before a new client gig.
Actually had a phone session with a new client today- felt like the night before the first day of school till the phone rang.
And Doug- I agree with your summation of Todd's post. Ew. _________________ Moe Egan

Oh, Rowell, I was thinking this same thing today in anticipation of tomorrow's gigs...I get out of breath and have to really slow down my heart in order to make the lines happen. I can't help but be a little nervous with new clients - nervous that they are actually paying me to do this, Nervous that I'm actually doing this. Nervous that I can breathe. I keep expecting that, after 14 years, I won't feel this way but I still do.
And Todd, you're gross! I think even more exclamation points are in order but I'm going to refrain and just avoid your pockets. Hmm, I guess that's good advice in general.
