I have all sorts of download software for pulling videos off the Internet, but I can't find a way to download this particular promo I voiced. Any advice? I'm using Firefox on a Mac and it's a wmv. Maybe that's it?

Many thanks!

I don't get it. I clicked the link, downloaded the .wmv file and played it. It doesn't work for you? Have you tried using Safari or Chrome?

I'm on a Mac with Firefox... no problems here.

WMV files are archaic and should be dumped in that bin with all the Real Audio stuff, but here's the way to do it:

1) When I hit the link, Firefox informed me that it had to re-start in 32-bit mode. OK
2) To read the wmv successfully you need to install Flip4Mac, which is specifically designed to intercept, read and display wmv files.
2) Flip4Mac played the file perfectly, and a right click lets you save as a Quicktime movie.

Get Flip4Mac here.

I've been using it for years, it's free, and has always just done it's job nicely. Hope this helps

Cheers
Peter

i click & "download" no problem. i can play it with VLC ... but i can't get anything to convert it to .mov or .mp4. when i looked at the info for the file it tells me it's 4kb - which is kind of impossible. so, maybe, even though the file is on the desktop, it's still streaming from somewhere? it was the same story mac & pc, btw.

Do you still have to hold down the CTRL key on a Mac to get a "right-click" menu to come up with options?

(yeah, I'm a little behind the times...)

Eureka, I think.

I've got Download Helper but all it would do is pull down some 4KB nothing. Right clicking gave me options I didn't need(?). However...

I've got QuickTime Pro with Flip4Mac, but I've never used it to download files before, but I gave it the URL and it pulled it and I was able to convert it to an MOV. The video is so tiny though that it gets pretty grainy at "normal" size. I'll see if I can coax something bigger out of these kind folks.

And I've got to decide if it's all worth the effort. Do I want to market myself using this piece in the mix? Hmmmm.

Decision, decisions, decisions.

I've got a fancy Logitech mouse that has an actual Right button, that works like a Right button!
