My wife has got pretty bored of my "What I did at work today" stories, so I've decided to unload this one on you guys because I just gotta tell someone! cool

I just got home from doing a live MC job for a certain very large diamond company. I recorded a video segment for it a week ago, but didn't see the live script until I got to the venue today......WTF!

Four A-list celebrities in the show as models.

The president of Botswana was a guest.

Over $100,000,000 worth of diamond jewelry - yep, that's one hundred million dollars.

African dancers and musicians flown over specially.

TV and press from all the major domestic media.

Custom recorded soundtrack with a very, very cool African beat version of "Diamonds are forever" recorded just for this event.

So what the hell was I doing there?

Dunno, but I got a real kick from the audience reaction when I introduced the "7,181 carat diamond dress".

And the 228 carat rough diamond wouldn't have looked out of place sitting in a large glass of Highland Single Malt. The 108.39 carat D-Flawless diamond was kinda nice.

DB, you would have been proud of me. Inspired by the fellow members of this board I attended the event in official VO dress - formal version . Black suit, black shirt, black tie. In fact, everything black except the big smile on my face.

How did we get so lucky as to love our job as much as we do?

OK, now I can sleep.

Normality will resume tomorrow.

Goodnight.

Maiku.

Very Nice!!

You never know who will end up at some of those video shoots. I had a gig I was freelancing on in Cancun.....yeah nice gig.....doing some video stuff....I ran into like 15 major league baseball players coming out of our hotel....they weren't in our shoot but it was cool to meet some of them....

I also most ran over Ken Griffey Jr. while rushing to catch our van that I was late for.......maybe that is why he is always injured....dudes like me smashing into him at hotels with cameras in their hands.....

What were you doing there, you ask?

Shining and sparkling, that's what. Silly. If somebody dangles a carat in front of your nose, ya gotta follow. I'm sure you fit in very well indeed.

Sounds wonderful. I think it really would be quite alright for you to tell your wife about this one.

Sorry, didn't get any. I took my camera and left it in my bag in the reception area figuring I'd take some after the show had finished. By the time I got back there the whole area had been turned into an press interview corner for the celebs! Once that was over and I got to my camera, anybody worth having a pic with had been whisked away and the diamonds had been carried out by guys in blue uniforms with angry scowles on their faces. All I got were a couple of sad, fuzzy shots of me in the changing room mirror.

Here's a press pic from the event.

Today I did some talking head dubs on a corporate about painters and decorators in Germany............sigh.......... Angry I WANT MY DIAMONDS BACK Angry

She woke me up this morning and said "Hey, I just saw your diamond show on TV."

She still has a hard time believing that I actually work for a living. She says she never knows how to describe my job to her friends. I tell her to say that I'm a salesman. I figure that 90% of the time, that's essentially what we are.
