I searched 'Rates' on the forum and didn't find the answer to my question. When doing promos or announcements for an auditorium venue, how do you structure a fee?
I do work for this entity in Dallas. I have a rate card for TV, Radio, Internet by market size. For Dallas media, I charge the major market rate for whatever the media is. Now they are doing a presentation in an auditorium. I did one 30 sec promo to be shown for an upcoming event and one 30 sec promo / stage intro, to intro a guest.
My quandary is, does the market size come into play if it's an auditorium? And does the size of the auditorium and event come into play as well? (I don't know the size of the event)
This is a good client that has provided me a lot of work, is always willing to pay the going rate and pays promptly. Any thoughts on a pricing structure for these VO's?
Thanks! |

How many times will these play? Sounds like it's a one-off. And it sounds like this is a client who pays you well for broadcast work, on a regular basis. If so, give em a break. Set a rate that is a portion of what you would normally charge them for the other projects you do for them. Make it worth your time, but make it attractive, and obvious that you're giving them a break. Goodwill is worth its weight in gold. _________________ Don Brookshire
