This isn't meant to be political. It's just hysterically funny. Stomach achingly funny. And yes, Jon Stewart nails it.

I may have to start watching him on a regular basis.

Stewart is just brilliant! The material is generally excellent, but his delivery is always spot on.

Funny, funny stuff. Extremely clever. Stewart, that is. Not Christie's staff.

Christie has been the best hope the Republicans have had for a widely popular (no pun intended) candidate for many years now, but I think he's really blown it. My point? Look at the date of the newscast in that clip where the reporter is discussing the retribution allegations. December 13. Christie says he only learned about it on January 8? Four weeks later? Either he's blissfully ignorant of important local news and controversies, or .... Well, either way, it's a shame.

And his two hour long apologia? Me thinks he doth protest waaay too much.

Stuff like this is what makes politics a spectator sport to be relished, sometimes. Get out the popcorn, it's gonna be fun to watch!

Whew! Glad to hear that. For a MOMENT I thought we were talking POLITICS on this board.

And since we all know that JOHN STEWART would never do or say anything POLITICAL....then ...we have NOTHING to worry about. Do we?

I'm SO relieved.

Whether politics, business management or whatever, it seems too many people these days believe they can get away with or, at least, minimize bad behavior by offering a good (or good and long) apology.

An apology is supposed to be an admission of guilt or responsibility, an appreciation for the trouble caused and a sincere promise the behavior will not be repeated. An apology does NOT undo what has been done.

When adults – particularly professionals – believe they can get off on a half-baked apology, they prove to the world they are still children.

In my eyes, that is.

We Canadians have that unfortunate smaller-neighbour tendency to try and outdo Americans (and the US, in fine bigger-neighbour fashion, usually doesn't even notice). But for once, I think we actually do have a winner here. Our bloated crooked politicians give far more entertaining non-apologies than yours. Case in point:

Mike Harrison, you hit it on the nose. Whether it's a politician who got caught with his pants down, an athlete who got caught doping, an actor who got caught doing... whatever.... the apologies really all basically seem to be saying:

"I'm really sorry...........[ that I got caught ]..........."

There will always be a steady supply of people in public life who continue to say and do things that call for apologies. Therefore, there will always be a rich vein of material for people like Jon Stewart to draw from. And that's a good thing because Jon Stewart is a flat-out funny dude.

At this time, I would like to apologize if my positive comments about Jon Stewart have offended anyone. Laugh
