Hi all,
I hope you had a great Christmas with your loved-ones. So after months of designing, I have re-branded and now have a shiny new website:
www.voiceoverdarren.com
I wanted a site that's clean, vibrant, fun and encourages the producer/voice seeker to hang about, check out the reels and soundboards and hopefully show off my versatility.
Please can you take 5 minutes to have a nose around and let me know what you think and if there's anything that's wildly wrong or offensive.
Much appreciated. _________________ https://www.darrenaltman.com/

Hey Darren,
First impression... the site fits you, your niche and your style... and I love the caricature. It looks like it's fun and not taking itself too seriously... upbeat. I'll take a look around over the next couple of days and see if anything jumps out as iffy. It looks pretty easy to navigate, which is important, and all the contact info and demos are right there.
The only thing that may be a problem is the twitter stream on the front page... I mean, some of your twitter conversations aren't really, well... website front-page stuff The site is very "chap", and the tweets may push it more towards "chav" ... I'm sure you know what I mean... although none of the colonials will _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

Bob, thanks! Glad you like it.
Pete, you totally get it! Thanks mate, that's what I'm aiming for, I'm glad it's a good relfexion of me and my (I hate to use this word) BRAND!!
Regarding the tweets, I understand and agree about the content. My web designer informed me that for Google rankings and SEO, it's vital to have content that moves and changes on the front page. I originally called it "latest news" and changed it t "latest tweets". To be honest, I hope that people will either check it out and follow me on Twitter as a result... or totally ignore it! It's there just to serve a purpous for Google.
Much appreciated. _________________ https://www.darrenaltman.com/

Wow! That's a lot of content! The demo's all load nicely (I like to color coding too), The vid's play quickly...and that soundboard is fun to play with too.
Contact info is easy to find....look's like you've got a winner there Darren! _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

I love it, The caricature is a scream and made me laff out loud the first time I saw it because it is SO YOU.
LOVE the colors, just like Chuck said.
Love the video player.
Please lose "welcome to my website".
You totally don't need that.
Also— I wonder if you could keep the whole header of VOICEOVERDARREN. COM, your pic, and Listen, Watch, Play, etc along with your ISDN number at the top, so the other stuff scrolls, but not your links.
My 2˘ on a really splendid web site! _________________ DBCooperVO.com

I had a chance for another look at the site... the only thing that's jumping out now is that the audio doesn't play nicely with iOS devices. Unfortunately, the Soundcloud player is OK in a straight browser, but doesn't work the iPad, iPhone etc. Also, if I hit the "Play" nav button at the top... I'm just presented with the "Get Adobe Flash" sign... I'd suggest to your guys that they need to make it iOS friendly. Flash is dead (or at least mortally wounded). _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

I've got the Soundcloud player working on iOS devices by using the HTML5 embed tag (iframes). They've specifically targeted those devices with their code update in October:

Go to the link above on your ipad and see if it works for you. |

i really like it! except - when i clicked a demo style on the front page, i expected it to play - rather than take me to another page - but that may be just my impatience. more importantly - your demos aren't playing for me mac/firefox. they DO play just dandy mac/safari. my firefox may be a few versions old though. _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

darren: i'm envious. you've done what i've been trying to do for years.
how much did your caricature artist set you back? brilliant capture.
so far, the only thing i think your site doesn't surpass mine on is speed of demo play from the front page...and even there, i'm still fighting the "non-flash mobile" compatibility problem in my next re-do.
very slick...while still maintaining the personal touch. _________________ rowell gormon

Thanks so much for the feedback guys. My web designer fixed the Flash issue today and the reels now play on IOS devices. I'm so pleased that you see the personality that shines through, as it is exactly what I was aiming for, from its conception. _________________ https://www.darrenaltman.com/
