Been getting a lot of rain here in Raleigh. Heavy band just passed through. Nothing like Florida I'm sure, but it's overwhelmed the drainage system. My back yard as of 5 minutes ago:

Yep, the rain is helpful. They just lifted our water restrictions about a month ago.

Water was still rising when I left the house. If you look at the first picture it's now a small river running under the chairs (about 2 inches deep). The 2nd picture: The water is now 1 1/2 to 2 feet deep by the fence.

I felt bad putting the dog out in it. I had to push her out the door. She stared at me for about 4 seconds, then took off to hide under the shed. Odd that she didn't go to the doghouse. She usually loves it in there. Maybe too hot.

The drive was fun. Lots of standing water on the roadways. Saw a couple wrecks but nothing too major. It still amazes me that people will drive 80 in pouring rain. I like my car, and my life too much for that.

Well, B-man, at least now you won't have to mow your lawn for awhile. Lips Are Sealed

Oddly enough, I had that thought too. Apparently I should have mowed last weekend.

The EAS system is going nuts with flash flood warnings. Just found out the creek near my house (and the one all that water in the pics is running into) has flooded the main road nearby and they've had to close it. We're high enough the house will be fine but I wonder how some of the neighbors in the lower part of the neighborhood are fairing. May ditch work early to go find out and see what needs to be done.

In the San Diego area we are about 6" below normal for rainfall and our rainy season ended. Summers are dry here (as Connie can attest) we will have no real rain until October or November. THe bad news is we are now officially in wildfire season. The brush is dry and the humdity is low. it willbe dry and in the 90's for the weekend here in the backcountry.

Did anybody see the flooded mall on CNN? Oh joy.

And to top the night off, my 'canes just lost to a shorthanded goal in sudden death overtime. Now the series goes back to Edmonton. Could you ask for more dramatic finish to a hockey game? WOW!

I really would have liked to see them clinch it here last night. Of course a win in Canada on Saturday would be fine too. Let's hope the Hurricanes can bring a decent game this time around. They should have been able to finish it in the 3rd. Too much pressure perhaps, and the injuries aren't helping any either. I'd rather see them finish it in 6 at Edmonton rather than pull what little hair I have left out watching the 7th game back here.
